Estat au vray du trésor royal, année 1675.

A transcript, [18 cent., second ½] (watermark similar to Churchill, no. 317, dated 1770), of a summary account of the revenue and expenditure of the French Treasury, mainly for the year 1675 but compiled in 1678 by Gédéon Berbier du Metz, garde du Trésor royal, for king Louis XIV.
It includes incomes from ordinary taxes deducted in the généralités (ancient French tax dominions) on woods, bridges, roads and Paris duties, from the 'Cinq Grosses Fermes', gabelles and other indirect taxes, royal farms and 'Parties casuelles' (incomes related to the selling of public charges), from extraordinary taxes in Pays d'états (free-tax French lands) and Church 'don gratuit' and levies, and from the selling of annuities, 1674-1677 (ff. 4-65 recto); expenses from king's rolls and gifts, 1674-1678 (ff. 66-80 recto); with a total sum for the year 1675 (f. 80). The original summary account is believed to have been destroyed during the French Revolution.

Du Metz, Gédéon Berbier, 1626-1709.
