The greater part of the archive consists of letters to or from Richard Venables, 1810-1858, archdeacon of Carmarthen, mainly from solicitors and members of his family and dealing largely with personal, legal, and business matters, and of letters to or from his two sons Richard Lister Venables, vicar of Clyro, 1835-1893, (mainly letters from his brother George) and George Stovin Venables, Q.C. [?1831]-1888, (mainly social, personal and legal). Other personal papers include the diaries of Richard Lister Venables, 1828-1893, diaries and journals of George Stovin Venables, and diaries of Mary Hannah Venables, 1809-1834. -- The remainder of the archive comprises mainly title deeds, 1665-1863, relating to properties in Breconshire, Denbighshire, Merioneth, Radnorshire, Montgomeryshire, and in the USA, personal, housekeeping and bank accounts, 1806-1893, and material relating to establishing All Saints church, Newbridge-on-Wye, 1883.
