Administrative history
The cause dates back to 1799 when one Thomas Jervis obtained a licence to hold religious meetings at his home, Penrhos farm near Tredegar. Land was later purchased and the first church was built in 1809.
By 1828, as Tredegar grew in size with the advent of industrialization, the need for a new building had become a pressing issue. It was decided to build a new chapel and the old church was converted into cottages.
1909 saw the centenary celebrations of the church, which was completely restored for the occasion, opening its doors after this refurbishment in March 1910.
The chapel closed its doors for the last time in 1999.
