John Humphreys Davies (1871-1926) of Cwrtmawr, Llangeitho, Cardiganshire, was a bibliographer, and Principal of the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, 1919-1926. He had a deep interest in Welsh literature and culture, manifested in his acquisition of a vast collection of Welsh manuscripts, books and deeds. Davies was one of the chief supporters of the National Library of Wales before and after its foundation, and he bequeathed his collection to the Library.
