History
Jonathan Ceredig Davies (1859-1932), traveller, author and genealogist, was born in Llangunllo, Cardiganshire. In 1875, aged 16, he emigrated to the Welsh colony in Patagonia, returning to Wales in 1891. He visited Western Australia in 1898 and 1907, studying the native people and doing much to promote religious and cultural issues amongst the Welsh and English settlers. He also travelled to France and Spain in 1924 but spent the remainder of his life in his native Wales. Many of his published works relate to Patagonia and to his other travels.
