Twenty-nine letters, postcards and telegrams, mostly from family and friends, February-June 1931, [December 1935], cuttings, photographs and ephemera have been pasted in.
The correspondents include Oliver Onions, April-May 1931 (ff. 34, 36 verso, 52), Robin Darwin, 20 March 1931 (f. 2 verso), Marda Vanne, 25 May 1931 (f. 8 verso), Alec Waugh, April 1931 (ff. 16 verso-17, 30 verso), and Doris Langley Moore, 12 May 1931 (f. 28); there are also four copy letters from Ruck to her father and others, March-April 1931, [December 1935] (ff. 1 recto-verso, 4-5, 14-15 verso, 38a-b). The volume also contains ink sketches (ff. 27, 30, 42, 44) and verses (ff. 20 verso, 32-33, 36, 40 verso, 44, 46) by Ruck. There are references to Doris Langley Moore's forthcoming biography of E. Nesbit (London, 1933) (ff. 25 verso, 28) and to Gwen Ffrangcon Davies (f. 40 verso). Besides a single copy letter there is no material dating from 1935 onwards (as alluded to on the front cover), presumably having being excised.

Notebook of Berta Ruck, July-August 1931, containing journal entries and notes on her visit to Vienna and Carinthia, Austria. Four letters, March 1931-September 1932 (ff. 10 verso, 18, 28, inside back cover), photographs and postcards, playbills and other ephemera have been pasted in.
The volume contains a photograph of Ruck (f. 15) and verse by her (ff. 1 verso, 4 verso). There are fragments of text on the stubs of ff. 13-14, 16-17, 21-28 and on the unfoliated stubs between ff. 17 and 18.

Typescript drafts, [1915x1917], of twenty-three poems by Edward Thomas with collation of texts by R. George Thomas (ff. i-vi). They include two copies of ['Words'], one marked 'unamended' (ff. 34-7), and of 'Lob', one marked 'unrevised' (ff. 38-45), and a copy of 'The Combe' (f. 2) signed 'Edward Eastaway'. The typescripts are working copies used by the poet for revision when selecting poems for inclusion in Poems published in 1917 under the pseudonym 'Edward Eastaway'. Nine of the poems were included in that volume.

Two holograph poems and an autobiographical sketch by Peggy Eileen Whistler ('Margiad Evans'), 1952, written for a special issue of Promenade: the weekly review for Cheltenham (no. 3, 26 July 1952). The poems are 'Epitaph' (f. 3) and 'The Shiny Crown' (f. 4). Also included is a printed copy of Promenade (ff. 5-14), including the sketch (ff. 12 verso, 13), 'Epitaph' (f. 14) and 'The Shiny Crown' (f. 14 verso).

Other fragments, also in Whistler's hand, include a page of an original play 'Dear Desdemona' (f. 10) [cf. NLW MS 23373E & NLW, Margiad Evans MS 29], and an excerpt from the second part of her unfinished 'Widower's Tale' (ff. 11-14).

A letter, 1916, from Davies to Guthrie, originally loose in the volume, has been tipped in on f. 16.

Eight typescript poems, [1970]-[1972], by R. S. Thomas, published in Poetry Wales, 6.1 (Summer 1970), 37-38, and ibid. 7.4 (Spring 1972), 9-14.
The poems are 'Vocation', [1970], 'Alma Mater', 'Dimensions', 'No', 'God's Story', 'The Hand', 'Ann Griffith' and 'Amen', [1972]. However, 'Saunders Lewis', also published in the Spring 1972 number, is not present.
