Let him know that Comb Abbey has no other hindrance to make it his (Herbert's) but the matter of conveyance, the price and Herbert's power being well enough reconciled. Is sure Lord Spencer cannot make any difficulty though his ?lawyer did 'for theire shalbee as much obliged for ye raisinge of daughters portion as what you had in those lands of Wales. If you have sonns why then the intale will make itt absolutly theirs. If you have none I doe not thinke but you will sooner leave your lands to your owne name yn to any other allyance whatsoever and in doing this certainly every one will commend your judgment for in these times you doe not know what accident may happen and y all prevention wilbee to late. You know your self in what a confusion you were in to pass over your estate when you were to have mett O Cosen Bond att Callis.' Has given order to Baker to bring Herbert that note whereby he passed over his whole estate when that business was in hand. Herbert will do well to put that 'complement' upon Lord Spencer as to show it him and burn it before his face that he may see he has to deal with men of honour. Does not motion anything to Herbert for his own ends but for the good of 'our' family, provisionally should Herbert have no issue made. Thinks his lordship will allow as much. His service to 'my lord and my lady'. Herbert's bedfellow [Elizabeth, Craven's sister] and Cousin And .... on. P.S. 'My father Hebron' and the Count of Hamon were killed at the seige of Saverne.
