Inset are three leaves containing transcripts of a letter from Edmund Francis to [ ] (the writer's health, the recipient's preaching engagement) (incomplete) and of a letter from D. Thomas ['Dafydd Ddu Eryri'] to [John Roberts, 'Siôn Lleyn'], 1810 (the sale of the writer's [Corph y Gaingc]). Written on the inside lower cover is a long note by O[wen] Williams, Fronheulog, Waunfawr, 1857, of which the following is an extract, - 'Myfi a gesglais gynhwysedd y llyfr hwn o'r hen ysgrifiau a ddaeth i'm dwylaw oeddynt eiddo Dafydd Ddu Eryri ac a delais am eu rhwymo yn nghyd megys y gwelir yma er's llawer o flynyddoedd yn ol ...'.

The volume was bound by Lewis Edward for Lewis David in 1762. The first thirty pages are entitled 'the compleat horseman And exbert farrier'. The poetry appears to have been transcribed c. 1791-5, possibly by Peter Bailey Williams, from other manuscripts (mention is made of copying from manuscripts in the hand of Dd. Ellis, Person Crickaeth, Evan Evans, Prydydd Hir, and Lewis Morris). The text is imperfect in places, and there are some later additions, including an English translation by Peter B. Williams of 'Marwnad Lleucu Llwyd' by Llywelyn Goch ap Meurig hên and 'englynion' copied by P. B. W[illiams] in Lampeter churchyard, August 1817. Several folios have been removed at the end of the volume but the pagination is continuous.

A holograph manuscript of Peter Bailey Williams (1763-1836), rector of Llanrug and Llanberis, Caernarvonshire, containing annotated transcripts of letters and documents from the Wynn (of Gwydir) Papers, the manuscripts of Paul Panton, Plas-gwyn and Lewis Morris ('Llewelyn Ddu o Fôn'), etc.; English translations of Welsh 'cywyddau', poetry by David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri') and Peter Bailey Williams; etc. The volume was compiled approximately during the period 1795-9. Among the insets are two letters of John Wynn of Gwydir (1553-1627) (see Calendar of Wynn (of Gwydir) Papers 1515-1690 ..., nos. 2848, 2858). There are some notes on the upper end paper in the hand of St G. A[rmstrong] W[illiams].
