An untitled interlude in Welsh, written in two hitherto unidentified hands of the mid-eighteenth century. It was entitled 'Capten Argulus' by its then owner, Robert Griffith, in Cymru, 28 (1905), p. 62, and as 'Argulus' by G.G. Evans in Llên Cymru, 1 (1950-1951), p. 83, ascribed in both cases to Ellis Roberts ('Elis y Cowper', d. 1789), and dated ?1756 (f. 29); see also G.G. Evans, Elis y Cowper (Caernarfon, 1995), p. 57. A transcript of this manuscript by William John Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd'; 1828-1904), written in 1889, is now NLW MS 132C.
