The file comprises correspondence, 1926, mainly relating to radio programmes in Welsh and the need for a Welsh national broadcasting station.

Caniadau y Cyssegr

The file comprises a copy of Caniadau y Cyssegr, neu, Gasgliad o Donau Hen a Diweddar...wedi eu cynghaneddu i bedwar o leisiau, gan John Roberts, Henllan (1839). The copy has been annotated and English translations of the hymns supplied by a later hand.

Collection of ballads and airs

The file comprises a bound volume of mainly nineteenth-century miscellaneous printed ballads and airs, occasionally interspersed with manuscript music. Most, if not all, of the items appear to have once belonged to the Victorian actress, Helen Faucit, whose name is frequently endorsed on the title pages, together with the year 1838. The works are indexed alphabetically at the beginning of the volume.

The series comprises correspondence relating to radio broadcasting in Wales, the establishment of the Union of Welsh Music and Musicians, and the National Eisteddfod of Wales; together with a small group of miscellaneous letters, 1925-1976, to W. S. Gwynn Williams.


The file comprises the certificate conferring the insignia of Chevalier (Class V) of the Order 'Al Merito della Republica Italiana' upon W. S. Gwynn Williams by the President of the Italian Republic, 1962, and related correspondence from Buckingham Palace.

The file comprises correspondence, 1930-1932, including letters relating to the music examinations of the Gorsedd of Bards, 1930, and subjects for the music competitions at Bangor National Eisteddfod, 1931. Amongst the correspondents are T. Hopkin Evans and D. Rhys Phillips.
