The series comprises printed copies of the Aberystwyth Corporation Act, 1913, with covering letter; the Aberystwyth Rural District Council (RDC) Bill, 1937, including Financial Memorandum; Petition of Aberystwyth Council against the RDC Bill, as presented to the House of Commons and the House of Lords, with typescript copies of the 'Brief for the Petitioners'; minutes of proceedings before the House of Commons and the House of Lords Select Committees; the RDC Act, as presented to the House of Lords; and the Aberystwyth Corporation Bill.

Agenda and minutes of meetings

The series comprises manuscript notes and typescript copies of minutes of meetings, mainly between representatives of the Aberystwyth Borough and Rural District Councils and mostly concerning water supplies, charges, and the establishment of a joint water board for the northern part of the county. Also included is a copy of the agenda of a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee.

Correspondence

The series comprises correspondence, including draft and copy correspondence, mostly of John F. Guile, Aberystwyth Town Clerk. The majority of the letters discuss matters relating to the Aberystwyth Rural District Council Bill, 1937, and the Aberystwyth Corporation Bill, 1938, including water charges, the supply of water to Llanbadarn, Llangawsai drainage and sanitation, and the extension of Aberystwyth borough.

Reports, consultation and discussion papers

The series comprises reports (typescript and printed), including manuscript notes and covering letters, with responses and discussions of them by councillors and members of various committees. Among the issues discussed are schemes for improving water supplies, sources of supplies and the quality of water; the condition of the water main and replacement of pipeline; proposals for a joint water supply scheme for the Borough and Rural District Councils; Llangawsai drainage; matters relating to the Rural District Council Bill, 1937, and the Borough Council's opposition; water charges; the Aberystwyth Corporation Bill, 1938; the extension of the borough; and proposals for a joint water board for Northern Cardiganshire.
