Pedigrees, etc., by Jonathan Jones

A large volume containing pedigrees, copies of memorial inscriptions, extracts from wills, etc., mainly in the autograph of Jonathan Jones, son of Joseph Jones (1787?-1856), of Caernarfon, and indexed by J. E. Griffith. The pedigrees have been compiled from various printed and other sources, and there are also some items of correspondence including letters to Jonathan Jones from W. D. Stanley, Penrhos, Holyhead, 1869-1883 (13), St Geo. Armstrong Williams, Cefn, Chwilog, 1881, (?)W. T. Price, Twthill, 1881, W. Williams, Bryncroes, 1860, Joseph Jones, Caernarfon, 1855, and Shadrach Owen, Fron-ddu, Cemlyn, 1854, with copies of letters to Joseph Jones from Hugh Hughes [Kinmel] 1855, and the Rev. David Williams, Llandwrog Rectory, 1855, and from Jonathan Jones to Thos Ellis, Solicitor, Pwllheli, 1857, Archdeacon [ ] Evans, 1884, and W. O. Stanley.

Pedigrees by John Elis, Tai Croesion

A volume labelled on the spine 'Pedigrees by John Ellis, Tai Croesion. MS 1723' consisting of an earlier volume of pedigrees (pp. 9-89, 100-200) by and in the autograph of John Ellis, Taicroesion, [Llechyllched, Angelsey], interleaved with pedigrees in the autograph of J. E. Griffith (1843-1933), genealogist, with an index by him (8 ff.). There are numerous additions to the John Ellis pedigrees, some made in the eighteenth century, others made by J. E. Griffith. The John Ellis portion of the manuscript also contains some poetry, including 'Cowydd Trafferth y Byd ar Gyfraith' ('Anafus worth iawn ofyn...') by Tho. Prys (p. [156]), triads ('Dymma Drioedd Taliessin') (p. [159]), descriptions of arms, etc. There is also a note concerning windows in Clynnog church (p. [34]): this is referred to in An Inventory of the Ancient Monuments in Caernarvonshire, Vol. II, Central.
