Archive of the Cambrian Coast Line Action Group comprising papers created and collected during the campaign to prevent the closure of the Cambrian Coast railway line between machynlleth and Pwllheli and to improve services an the line along with the archive of the Welsh Railways Action Group, formed in 1971 to co-ordinate between various railway campaigns in wales and to campaign for improvements to the Welsh railway network as a whole and papers and publications relating to local rail campaign groups in west Wales, along the Heart of Wales line and in the Wrexham area.

Cambrian Line Finances

Various papers and publications relating to the finances of railway services in general and the Cambrian Coast line in particular including a 1967 Ministry of Transport paper "Railway Policy" Cmnd 3439, a programme for the Plaid Cymru 1972 conference, a pamphlet entitled "The Economics of the Cambrian Coast Line" by K. Richards, reprinted from the Journal of Transport Economics and Policy which is a critical analysis of the cost-benefit study of the line by the Ministry of Transport, correspondence and statistics relating to the Whitland - Pembroke Dock railway line an the closure of the Carmarthen - Newcastle Emlyn - Lampeter railway in 1972, and the West Wales Railway Action Committee, correspondence with the Welsh Office, British Rail, Department of the Environment, Members of Parliament, the National Union of Railwaymen (NUR),copies af articles and detailed costs and statistics relating to the Cambrian Coast Line.

CCLAG Correspondence and other papers

Papers relating to the campaign to prevent the closure of the Cambrian Coast line and for improvements to the the infrastructure of the line and train services. The files include correspondence with supporters, British Rail, Members of Parliament, local authorities and government departments, minutes of meetings, publicity material, press coverage, reports, statistical and financial information, papers relating to television and press coverage.

Publications produced or collected by the Cambrian Coast Line Action Group related to the campaign against the closure of the line and special trains along the line:"Rheilffordd y Cambrian = The Cambrian Line" by John D Rogers (1975), "Great Wales Rail A Route Guide to the scenic rail routes of mid Wales - Cambrian, Cambrian Coast, Conwy Valley, Heart of Wales" published by CCLAG in 1983, "Cambrian Coast Express - An illustrated route description and history of the Cambrian Rail Routes and associated lines" published by Wirral Railway Circle, 1973 in conjunction with special trains on the Cambrian and "Isle of Wight Railways Report of Inquiry held in London June 1953" reprinted by the Railway Development Society which considered misleading figures relating to railways on the Isle of Wight.
