A manuscript containing poetry by Dafydd ap Gwilym, Tudur Aled, Iolo Goch and other poets mostly of the second half of the fifteenth century. On p. 247 Huw Cae Llwyd has written: 'oydran jesy n dyrnasol / py ragor pymp ar higain / pymthec cant rifant y rain', which would date the manuscript at hardly earlier than 1525.
The style of the writing points to an earlier period, and the orthographical habit of writing - for example, 'kaid' to rhyme with 'eneid' (see p. 73, &c.) - belongs to the second half, if not the last quarter, of the fifteenth century (compare Llanstephan MS 7 and Peniarth MS 70).

A manuscript containing poetry of Bedo Brwynllys, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Guto'r Glyn, Huw Cae Llwyd and others (pp. 1-136, 149-159); a vocabulary (pp. 137-149); Dafydd Ddu [Hiraddug]'s Grammar (pp. 161-198); the statutes of Gruffydd ap Cynan (pp. 199-206 (at the end of this extract is the note 'Dyma y maint a gebhais o'r Statut yn lhybhyr Meistr Sion ap Edward gam o drebh newydd, o blwybh Dewi yn Sir bhracheiniog . 1579 .'); a translation into Welsh of Genesis I (pp. 230-245); Biblical extracts and history (pp. 246-264) (a note on p. 252 records that the Biblical extracts were taken 'o lybhyr Mr Edmond Morgan o Bhedwelhty'); &c. All but pp. 256-259, 265-268 and part of p. 198 are in the autograph of the grammarian Dr John David Rhys (1534-1609); his peculiar orthography begins on p. 13, l. 21. The poetical extracts vary in length from three to fifty lines. The lines selected are not always consecutive; they are even occasionally fragmentary, and many words are explained or glossed. The awdl on p. 256 is in a different but contemporary hand from that of Dr John David Rhys. For p. 265, cf. the text on pp. 22-24, which agrees in part. For the dating of this manuscript see p. 207.

A manuscript containing the poetical works of Lewis Glyn Cothi, Tudur Aled, Tudur Penllyn, Sion Cent, Ieuan ap Tudur Penllyn, Rhys Cain and others. There is some controversy as to whether f. 137 contains work by Llewelyn ab Ieuan or by Deio ab Ieuan Du. The volume is labelled 'Odlau a Chywydda. A. 4°'.
Ff. i-ii, 137-143b are not in the same hand as the rest of the manuscript, and ff. 144b-146 are in a modern hand. Ff. 1-56 may be copied from Peniarth MS 109; the order of the poems is the same at first, but the readings do not always agree, and there are four poems in this manuscript which are not in Peniarth MS 109. Pp. 11-96 of Peniarth MS 77 are copied from this manuscript. William Salesbury or Sir T. Wiliems has written what looks like 'rhyderch ap Howel ap Dauyd' on f. 136b.

A manuscript containing poetry in praise of Gruffydd Dwnn, the bulk of it being in the autograph of Gruffydd Dwnn, though pp. 12 (Rhisiart Fynglwyd), 19 ('Syr John Teg'), 22 (Sion Brwynog), 41, 69, 108, 120 (Syr Owain ap Gwilym), 73, 74 (Morgan Elfael), 132c (Huw Llŷn), and 145 (unattributed, possibly autograph) are autograph works by the respective authors. Many of the poems are dated. Pp. 147-156 are in the holograph of Huw Llŷn (see notes on pp. 149, 153). P. 17 is inscribed 'ai kant pan oeddid yn kwplav y plas [nyr ystrad merthyr] o. k. 1533'. An inscription on p. 49 notes Syr Owain ap Gwilym as being 'ap Ieuan o dal y llynn' and, in relation to the poem, 'ai gwnaeth i ryffydd dwnn o hiraeth am rvffydd ag o eisse i weled ac ai danovones ynysgrifenedig i ryffyth donn' (see Peniarth MS 70, which evidently once belonged to the Gruffydd Dwnn Collection). P. 77 is inscribed probably in the hand of Gruffydd Dwnn (relating to the date 1533) 'pan oedd rys [the eldest son of Gruffydd Dwnn] yn 11 mlwydd oed. I mayr kywydd hwnn yn ysgrifenedig mywn llyfr arall i ryffydd Dwnn kyfaillt y llyfr hwnn'. On p. 83 the name of 'syr John teg' has been crossed out and that of 'Gyttvn Owein' [Gutun Owain] substituted, though Gutun Owain was dead long before the poem's date of 1526; the text, however, appears to be in the autograph of Gruffydd Dwnn. The last line of the poem beginning at p. 87 may not belong to the first as pp. 89-90 are missing. P. 104 is inscribed, apparently in the hand of Huw Llŷn in relation to the author of the work, Morus Dwyfech, 'ai kant pann oedd o. k. 1560 ac ynn hir llyn i gwnnaeth ef y ddau englynn hynn'. P. 126 is inscribed in the hand of Gruffydd Dwnn 'I mayr varnad honn yn ysgrifenedig yn y llyfr lle may englynyon yr eryr o law y gwr ai gwnaeth yr hwn lyfr a wnaeth gryffydd dwnn iddo i hyn yn gyntaf oll ond vn llyfr arall'. P. 144 is inscribed in the hand of Gruffydd Dwnn 'gyttvn owein ai kant i ryffydd dwnn' (although, according to the date of the poem, Gruffydd Dwnn was an infant at the time of its writing). P. 147 is inscribed (in relation to Wiliam Cynwal, the author of the englynion) 'a Gant y chwech englyn hynn yni ynnwedic lythr at ruffudd dwnn 1566' (only the fifth and sixth englyn of this series remain).
This is one of the manuscripts mentioned in Mostyn MS 184. Gwenogvryn (J. Gwenogvryn Evans, Report on Manuscripts in the Welsh Language, vol. II, part II (London, 1903), p. 503) debates whether the englynion addressed to 'Gr: Dwnn o Gydweli' on at pp. 132-132b are in the hand of Owain Gwynedd.

A composite manuscript lettered 'BARDDONIAETH &c.' on the spine. The volume, which contains 'englynion', 'carolau' and pedigrees, is written for the most part (ff. 1-52 verso and 75 verso-101 verso) by Wiliam Dafydd Llywelyn of Llangynidr (c. 1520-1606) (cf. NLW MS 15542B). Another hand is responsible for ff. 53- 75, but Wiliam Dafydd Llywelyn appears to have annotated this middle section. Folio 6 verso carries an eighteenth century list of payments, and folio 7 verso is blank. The contents are: ff. 1-2 verso, part of the story of 'Trystan ac Esyllt' (cf. A manuscript in three hands containing a treatise on arms addressed to Morgan Elfael (fl. c. 1528-1541) from Hywel ap Syr Mathew (d. 1581); also poetry, etc. Pp. 1-165 are in the autograph of Hywel ap Syr Mathew and were written in 1557 (cf. the writing in Peniarth MS 138 and Cardiff MS 51); pp. 167-194 are in a second hand and written about 1598; pp. 195-204 are in a third hand and were written about 1600. The poets whose works are cited include Dafydd ab Edmwnt, Siôn Cent, Gruffudd Hiraethog and Iolo Goch. The volume also contains medical recipes (pp. 166-170) and a chronicle of the reign of British rulers (p. 198).

An imperfect manuscript in several hands containing Welsh poetry, including the works of Tudur Aled, Siôn Brwynog, Simwnt Fychan and others.

An early seventeenth century manuscript, fragile, written c. 1611-1621 and possibly earlier by Roger Williams, clerk, rector of the parish of St. Nicholas, co. Glamorgan [the scribe of parts of Llanstephan MS 41] and containing pedigrees, Welsh poetry, medical and veterinary recipes, etc. Roger Williams [TLLM, 41n, 213-4] was the son of Roger William of Prisk [in the parish of Llanddunwyd (Welsh St. Donats)] and he married Elinor Rees [daughter of Rhys Amheurug (Rees Merrick)]: his pedigree is on p. 27 of this manuscript (cf. Llanstephan MS 41, p. 173). A folio or folios are wanting at the beginning and someone has written the words 'The Isue [sic] of Gruffydd fawr [De Radyr]' opposite the first page (p. 4). Pp. 7-58, 61-66, 171-210 are in the hand of Roger Williams, assistant to Bishop William Morgan (1545-1604); pp. 131-137 are in the hand of Dr John David Rhys; and pp. 67-112, 139-152 are in the hand of John Powel of Talgarth, Breconshire (see pp. 67, 139; see also Peniarth MSS 27 and 45). P. 58 contains a note, 1611, in the hand of Roger Williams concerning 'the fees that goeth vpon any person in suinge owt his lyveryes', and on p. 61 is a note, 1617, in the same hand concerning the 'benefactors of the Cathedrall church of Landaphe'. Also included in the manuscript is a sermon 'in praise of theves' (p. 197), triads (pp. 200-201) and medical and veterinary recipes (pp. 199, 210b).

'Y Llyfr hir or Mwythig', being a collection of five hundred and sixty-six cywyddau, etc. by various authors arranged into 'books' according to subject. The poems in each 'book' are numbered separately. The poets cited include Iolo Goch, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Siôn Cent, Iorwerth Fynglwyd, Bedo Brwynllys and Siôn Phylip. The volume is dated temp. James II (see p. 382). The text is followed by nine folios of index, arranged under authors' names, by Richard Morris. Following the index are three further poems (by Dafydd ap Gwilym, Siôn Cent and Dafydd ab Edmwnt) in the hand of the Reverend Samuel Williams.
The volume is in the same hand as Llanstephan MSS 47, 48 and the end of 164.

A collection of carols on biblical and religious themes by Thomas Iefan, Dd. ap Gruffudd o Drewyn, Edmwnt Prys, Siôn Morys, 'Un o Lunden', and others un-named; 'dyrïe karwssio'; 'englynion i wragedd'; various 'englynion'; 'Owdwl y gath' by Robert Klidro; 'Araith Wgan'; 'Ymddiddan rhwng yr wttreswr a'r dylluan' by 'Thomas y darlleniwr'; 'cywyddau' by Edward ap Raff, 'O.G.', and others un-named; and a draft letter from his children to Ieuan ap Thomas Lloyd containing a reference 'to the new found land wch is called Ferginiae'.

Folios removed at some time from Llanover MSS B.6 (NLW MS 13068B), B.9 (NLW MS 13070B), E.7 (NLW MS 13169B) and E.16 (NLW MS 13178B), and containing items of poetry, some incomplete, by Tudur Aled, Hyw [sic] Kae Llwyd, Daio ssion ab Howel, [Tomas Llywelyn Deio Pwel], Ievan Tew Brydydd , [? Sion Brwynog], Philip Ievan, and [Rhys Goch o Fochgarn], written in various hands of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries including that of Llywelyn Siôn, with one leaf from a (?) scriptural dictionary, Ra-Re, in a seventeenth century hand, giving definitions rather than scriptural references. Fuller details have been placed with the manuscript.

A manuscript, in several hands, containing the poetry of Wmffre Dafydd ab Ifan and others, including Siôn Tudur, Siôn Phylip, Rhys Cain and Dafydd ap Gwilym.
Pp. 1-62 are said to have been written in 1691 by Siôn Rhydderch (John Roderick) of Cemaes (see p. 62); pp. 63-77 are in an earlier hand; and pp. 79-82 are in the hand of Dr John Davies, Mallwyd.

A manuscript in two parts, the first part containing 'Some words omitted in Dr. Davies Welch and Latin Dictionary ...'; and the second part containing 'Geiriau or hen Gamberaag anhawdh ei dirnad yn yr oes hon', with illustrations from the poets, including Tudur Aled. The first part of the text (original foliation 1-101) is written in a seventeenth century hand while the second part (original foliation 1-14) is written in a sixteenth century hand.
From the many references in the text to Sir Thomas Wiliems it would appear that the scribe of the first part of the manuscript had access to the original Dictionary MSS used by Dr John Davies, Mallwyd. The vocabulary in the second part of the manuscript is apparently a copy of Wiliam Llŷn's Vocabulary.

A manuscript containing poetry by Cynddelw, Bleddyn Fardd, Dafydd Nanmor, Bedo Aeddren, Dafydd ap Gwilym and others. Pages 1-27 are in the autograph of James Davies ('Iaco ab Dewi'); pp. 29-121 were 'wrote by J. Morgan' (p. 121); pp. 122-126 are in the hand of Samuel Williams; pp. 127-41, 144-153 are in the hand of W[illiam] Maurice; and p. 154 is in the hand of the Reverend Moses Williams.

This manuscript is apparently in the same hand as large portions of the Red Book of Hergest and Peniarth MS 32. The contents, with few exceptions, are manifestly taken from Jesus College MS 2 and Peniarth MS 5. Pp. i-vi belong to the fifteenth century and contain pedigrees (p. i) which are somewhat difficult to decipher; triads (p. ii); and poetry by Dafydd ap Gwilym and Ieuan Dew Brydydd (p. iv-vi).
