Each volume is lettered, on the spine, 'Ffrwd-fâl MSS'.

Lists compiled by J. Lloyd James ('Clwydwenfro') from the manuscripts of John Phillips, Glandwr-isaf, parish of Llanfyrnach, co. Pembroke, of sermons preached largely at Hebron Congregational Chapel, 1826-1879, and of Roger Grifiths, Kile (Cilau)-isaf; parish of Llandysilio East, co. Carmarthen, of sermons preached at Nebo Congregational Chapel, 1883-1887. At the end are particulars, also from a notebook of Roger Griffiths, of collections and disbursements at Nebo, 1883-1886. The lists have been recorded partly on the dorse or blank spaces of a printed National Memorial to the Right Hon. The Earl of Rosebery, K.G., Premier, 'for arresting the growth of European armaments' [c. 1894-1895], returns of March School Board, 1897, forms of Statistical Returns of the Sunday School Union, 1900-1901, and a printed notice of meetings of Marsh and Chatteris Federation of the Evangelical Free Churches, 1903.

A pocket-book, 1829-55, of John Davies (b. c. 1804), Quarry, parish of Clydau, co. Pembroke, shoemaker, mainly recording names of preachers, with texts of sermons, at Pontgarreg, Cenarth, and other Calvinistic Methodist chapels, as well as at Association and other CM meetings, in counties Carmarthen and Pembroke, together with occasional references to family and local events. The volume also includes transcripts of hymns and other verse, and other miscellaneous memoranda.

Ffrwdfâl manuscript,

A notebook of William Davies, Froodvale (Ffrwdfâl), bound in brown paper and inscribed 'W. Davies, Ph. D. April 12, 1846'. It contains extracts from expositary notes on scripture and notes of sermons, 1846-9 and undated, preached at Park[-y-rhos], Crug[-y-bar], Esger[dawe] and Rhydybont Congregational churches and at farmhouses called Penrhiwe and Tynypyllau in the Cynwyl Gaeo area, Carmarthenshire; poetry in Welsh and English, 1847 and undated, titles which include: 'To Rev. D[avid] E[vans, rector of] Kilgerran', 'On the Marriage of Rev. M. Jones R[ural] Dean', and 'To Tegid' [i.e. John Jones ('Ioan Tegid')], etc.; a few particulars of 'Pubs', i.e. preaching publications, mainly in Pembrokeshire, June-July 1847; and memoranda of curricula at Brecon [Independent] and Carm[arthen Presbyterian] Colleges 1846, and of book titles, of personal addresses, etc.

Pregethau,

Two notebooks in different hands, each containing a sermon. One of the sermons was preached at Llandeilo, 1752, at Aber[nan]t in 1758 and at Cynwil [?Elfed] and Newchurch in 1758. Accompanying the sermons is a holograph letter from J. B. Jones, Abernant, Talog Road, Carmarthen to Miss [ ] Williams, 1914 (enclosing an extract from the vestry book, 1746, admitting Peter Williams to read prayers and to preach at Abernant parish church).
