An imperfect late seventeenth and early eighteenth century commonplace book of Howell Tanat (Tanatt, Tannat, Tannatt), Trewylan Isa, Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain, Montgomeryshire. It contains poetry in free metres by Oliver Rogers, Humfrey Dauyd ap Ivan, William Philips, Rolant Voughan [sic], Howell Tanatt, Edward Rolant and Hugh Moris, and anonymous poems; English verses; accounts, 1685-1707 and undated (household, farm, payments to craftsmen, assessments of lewns in Llansantffraid and Llandysilio, etc.); short depositions touching a suit in the Court of Chancery relating to Robt. Kinaston [of Trewylan Ganol, Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain] containing references to a plot and the keeping of a Jesuit priest; household and medical recipes; an incomplete dictionary of English phrases with their Latin equivalents; scriptural notes; a prayer; etc.

A volume originally used by Thomas Richards, Darowen to record the rules of Darowen Church Sunday School ('Rheolau perthynol i Ysgol Sabbothol Eglwys Darowen') [1824]. Beginning at the end, also in the hand of Thomas Richards, are 'Cadwaen Iachawdwriaeth', a list of subscribers (among them Thomas Richards) to Welsh Bibles, and 'Crefyddau', being statistics of religious membership of European countries. The outside upper cover is inscribed 'Ysgol Sul Eglwys Darowen 1824'.

A late eighteenth century manuscript in the hand of John Morris containing 'cerddi' and 'carolau' by Humphrey Jones (Pen y Bont), Walter Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'] (1786, 1790) and [David Jones] ('Dewi Fardd'); two religious verses in English by, respectively, David Thomas ['Dafydd Ddu Eryri'] and Edward Barnes, together with Welsh translations; 'englynion', partly intended as memorial inscriptions, by Jonathan Hughes, John Edwards ('y Prydydd o Lyn Ceiriog'), Edward Barnes, David Thomas, D[avid] Ellis (Amlwch) and John Morris, and a prayer by John Morris. The spine is lettered 'Llyfr J. Morris - I'.

A commonplace book of Aberystwyth provenance attributed by J. H. Davies to his grandfather Robert Davies (1789-1841). It is written in more than one hand and consists largely of maxims and aphorisms of a religious nature, prayers and, especially, abstracts of sermons preached at Calvinistic Methodist Association and other meetings at Aberystwyth, 1825-7 and undated. A fragment of a Book of Hours, containing the Office of the Dead (imperfect), 'commemoratio animarum', and a rubric and prayer before the Psalter of St Jerome.

A manuscript written, 1674-1676, by Gwilym Pue [Puw], a member of the Roman Catholic family of Puw of Penrhyn Creuddyn, Caernarvonshire [D.W.B. (1959), p. 819] and containing a miscellany of verse and prose, much of it by Gwilym Pue himself. The title is given as 'Opera et Miscellania Domini Gwiliellmi Pue Cambrbrittanni M.B.' and 'Brithwaith Gwillim Pue M.B. Hefyd Gerdd yr un gwr a beirdd ereill Anno 1674: Pump o Garole Mr White, Hefyd Dau Garol o Fûchedd y Santes Gwenfrewy o waith Gwillim Pue 1674 M.B.,' and the volume is similar in content to, but not identical with, NLW MS 4710B, another volume written by Gwilym Pue but slightly later in date (1676). A composite volume written probably c. 1700 in the same hand throughout and containing (a) pp. [1-94 ], '. . . [sen]tences both [? moral and scriptura]ll vpon the 24 Letters . . .', part of the title having been cut away; (b) [95-214], 'The Art of Divine Contentment' (based on Phil. iv, 11); (c) [215-56], a sermon entitled 'The Benefitt of Contentation', 1 Tim. vi, 6, end wanting, followed by 'Prayers and Meditations &c.'; and (d) [257-314], a transcript of 'The profitt of imprisonment, A Paradox written in French by Odet De La Nove . . . translated by Joshua Silvester . . . 1605' with a few lines wanting at the end, followed by an index of words (chiefly proper names, place names, from mythology, etc.), A-L (incomplete). There are no annotations by Edward Williams, 'Iolo Morganwg', but loose at the beginning of the volume is a fragment of a letter, 1798, in an unknown hand with notes by 'Iolo Morganwg' on the reverse side.

A letter, May 17, 1822, to Thomas Burgess, bishop of St. Davids, intimating the intention of King George IV to subscribe one thousand pounds in aid of the new St. David's College, Lampeter, and a copy (printed) of Prayers used at the laying of the first stone of St. David's College near Lampeter on the 12th day of August, 1822.
