Tune-books of the Reverend Evan Lewis, Brynberian, consisting largely of hymntunes, psalm-tunes, and anthems by D[avid] James, Brynberian (partly in his own hand), Martin Luther, Jo. Smith, R. Engleburt, Dr. [John] Randall, E. Blanks, Rippon, R. Keene, D. Richards, [David Jenkin Morgan], [ J. Williams], [ ] Arnold, J. Edwards, Llangadock, [Ludwig van] Beetho[v] en, Dr. Cope, [ ] Clarke, Thomas James, J[ohn] Evan, Pencareg [near Lampeter], W. Harries, Castellnedd, Wm. Evans, T. Jarman, John Roberts ('Ieuan Gwyllt'), D. Harries, 'ger Pencader', [John] Fawcett, [ ] Hendon, [William Owen, Prysgol], etc., together with compositions extracted from 'Casgliad Roberts' and from Juvenile Magazine, 1840, the words of hymns, airs, etc., and notes on the theory of music. The majority of the compositions were recorded during the period 1844-9, but there are additional items dated to the year 1881.

A collection of hymn-tunes, anthems and miscellaneous songs compiled apparently in the Llanbrynmair district. The tunes are mostly anonymous but there are items ascribed to the Reverend J[ohn] D[avid] Edwards, John Ashton, Trefeglwys, W[illiam] Owen [Prysgol], J[oseph] D[avid] Jones, 1851, and D. P. Price, Cazenovia.

A volume entitled 'The Nightingale Anthems, Choruses and Tune Book', containing compositions by G. F. Handel (including one sung to words by Hugh Jones ('Erfyl')); W. A. Mozart; J. Ambrose Lloyd; John Ellis, Llanrwst (arrangements by William Owen, Prysgol, and 'O[wain] Alaw'); Giacomo Carissimi; Owen Davies ('Eos Llechryd'); John Owen ('Owain Alaw'), including compositions to words by John Jones, ('Talhaiarn'), Edward Roberts ('Iorwerth Glan Aled'), John Jones ('Ioan Tegid'), and Hugh Jones ('Erfyl'), and a winning composition at the Tremadoc Eisteddfod, 1851; E[dward] Stephen ('Tanymarian'); Franz Joseph Haydn; John Mills ('Ieuan Glan Alarch'); John Roberts ('Ieuan Gwyllt'); Brinley Richards (to words by 'Talhaiarn'); and others. On the fly-leaf is a printed leaflet of hymns, etc. to be sung at the re-opening of Clynnog Church, 2 June, 1856, and a manuscript round for three voices by Dr. Philip Hayes. The volume is indexed.
