Monmouthshire election songs

Two Monmouthshire election songs in favour of the Morgan candidate against the ‘Creole’ from Antigua, [Valentine Morris], one entitled ‘A new copy of verses’ to the tune of ‘O the roast beef of old England’, beginning ‘How does this exotic, this out-coming blade’, the other entitled ‘Song’ to the tune of ‘Hearts of oak are our ships’, beginning ‘Come cheer up my lads, tis to honour we steer’, [1771]; and also a Glamorgan election song entitled ‘Canu, Cymraeg’, beginning ‘Chwi feibion glan Morganwg os gwnech y nawr fy arch’ in favour of Wyndham and Talbot (2 copies).
