John Rees Bequest 08 : [Views in France II]

This is an album of postcards (mainly photomechanical prints) from all over France. Most are postally unused. Those postally used are addressed to Miss Rees, Berthlwyd, Blaenffos Pembs by 'John'[Rees] from the Ardeche (1909), Corsica (1912), Paris (1927). The sender appears to have been teaching in France. One (dated 1916) is addressed to John Rees, 39848 Batt RWF

John Rees Bequest 10 : [Views in France III]

This is an album of postcards (mainly photomechanical prints) of views in France. Most are of principal tourist attractions, though there are some of small villages, war damage and other WW1 related subjects.The vast majority are postally unused. One is to John Rees from a friend in the Ardeche pu 1912, another from John Rees to his sister sent whilst on active service, July 1916.

John Rees Bequest 14 : [Views in Finland]

This is an album of postcards (mainly real photographic) of views in Finland. Most are of principal tourist attractions though there are some of small villages. Also a series of 35 art drawn cards with verses from the epic Finnish poem Kalevala. One card is postally used. This was sent by John Rees to his sister in 1934 suggesting that the cards in this album were purchased on this visit.

This is an album of postcards from Holland. Most are postally unused photomechanical prints. Includes views of towns and cities, also a number of art reproductions from different sources. These seem to have been collected during a visit in 1928.

Included are a number of cards of Royalty and royal occasions, art drawn cards from L&NWR showing the interior of the royal train, Tucks cards (series C51) showing china production, world war one patriotic and regimental cards, Tucks Oilettes of London at night (series 768) and "Bonnie Scotland"

John Rees Bequest 38 : [Famous men & women]

Album containing portraits of eminent men and women from c.1500 to ca. 1930. As well as historical figures such as Jean D'Arc it includes Charles Dickens, Edith Cavell, Benito Mussolini, Coquelin Cadet, Roald Amundsen, Italian Kings and more. Some of the more recent figures are depicted in photographic postcards rather than art reproductions.

Postcards from various musems and galleries in Italy, especially Rome, Firenze and Florence depicting works of art, in this instance many being of high status men and women also many on biblical themes.
