Sir John Doddridge: The Ancient and Modern Estate of the Principality of Wales

A volume containing what is said to be the original manuscript, written 1604-1605, of Sir John Doddridge's 'An historical account of the ancient and modern state of the principality of Wales ...' (London, 1630). It does not contain the preface which appears in the printed book but in other respects is very similar.

Llandaff diocese book

A volume, c. 1769, containing a list of the dignitaries and clergy of the diocese of Llandaff, the livings and dates of institutions, and the patrons. Also included are indices to the livings and incumbents, and rentals of the revenues of the see.

The Urinal of Physick

A volume containing a transcript, 1875-1876, by G. H. H. of NLW MS 48. Also included are notes relating to Robert Recorde (p. 10) and to Andrew Boorde (pp. 425-6).

William Style: Heraldry and pedigrees (Vol. 1)

A volume, c. 1656-c. 1661, containing a catalogue of the Knights of the Bath made by Henry VIII in 1509, also of the Knights Bannerets and other nobility and gentry together with their coats of arms, etc. Also included in the volume are a table of all surnames mentioned with their heraldic insignia; an account of the arms in the Parlor Window at Newnham Padox in Warwickshire and at Coughton and Chesterton; an account of Kenilworth, Tamworth, Warwick and Maxstoke Castles; epitaphs from the church of Stratford, including those to Susanna Hall and Shakespeare; tomb inscriptions from various locations; a treatise on the right of bearing arms; and a list of gentry of Nottingham, with their coats of arms. Tenby court roll book

A volume containing a 19th century transcript of the court roll book of Tenby, Pembrokeshire, 1606-1617. This copy was apparently made by Sir Thomas Phillipps.

William Huddesford: Life of Edward Lhuyd

A volume containing the memoirs of the life of Edward Lhuyd, drawn up by William Huddesford before 1760 and printed, 1777, in British Remains by the Reverend N. Owen. A few leaves containing extracts from Ashmolean MS g. 38 have been inserted into the volume.

A volume, 19 cent., containing a large number of notes on various subjects by Edward Jones (Bardd y Brenin), together with a few letters to Edward Jones from Hugh Rowland and a copy of verses by Dr Horne, Bishop of Norwich.

Miscellaneous papers

A volume containing a collection of letters and notes pertaining to Edward Jones (Bardd y Brenin). Amongst them are letters from John Evans of Erbistock with a list of subscribers to one of Edward Jones's books (p. 47), from David Thomas (Dafydd Ddu Eryri), dated 29 March 1800 (p. 51), and from A. Ryder of Dartmouth (p. 57). Also included in the volume are an account of Canu dan bared in Meirionethshire, with a fragment of the song used (pp. 74-5); a collection of englynion (pp. 85-6, 94); pennillion (p. 103); the epitaph of Robert o Ragad (p. 107); notes relating to King Arthur's knights; and an index of the pieces in Queen Elizabeth's virginal book (p. 121).

Welsh historical tracts

A volume, probably written 1730-1740, containing Welsh historical tracts, including a Dissertation concerning the Literature of the Antient Britons (pp. 2-70), written after 1730 (date on p. 63), a treatise (imperfect) on the superstition of the Welsh (pp. 71-106), an account of the Lordships Marchers (pp. 117-74) and a dissertation on the Welsh Laws (pp. 175-217). All the tracts seem to have been written by a clergyman holding a benefice in the diocese of St Asaph (pp. 82, 90) and some of them were addressed to a son or grandson of Baron Price (1655-1733) (pp. 82, 90). Also included is A Treatise of Lordshipps Marchers in Wales ... (early 17 cent.) (pp. 221-339) written by George Owen of Henllys and is the original treatise in George Owen's autograph which was reprinted, with very full annotations, in Owen's 'Pembrokeshire', Part III (Cymmrodorion Record Series, No. 1, pp. 127-205; George Owen's autograph, p. 133).

Assize rents of Tindaethwy

A rent roll of assize rents, dated 22 October 1649, relating to the commote of Tindaethwy, Anglesey. Names of landowners, villes and gwelïau, and names of tenants and their holdings are given.

Antiquitates Parochiales Insulae Monae

A volume containing a copy of a work on the parishes of Anglesey by the Rev. Henry Rowlands, author of Mona Antiqua, and other works. This copy was transcribed by 'G. M.' [William Morgan] in 1726 and was printed, with a translation, in the Arch. Camb., 1st Series, vols I-IV. At the end of the volume (p. 143) there is a tract entitled Bellum Mariscum, which was not published in the Arch. Camb.
