Fifty-eight letters, [1875]-1902, from the Reverend D[avid] Howell ('Llawdden'), Wrexham, Gresford and St Davids, all except two to D. Silvan Evans (personal matters, the 'Geiriadur' and Lady Llanover, a letter from W. Spurrell, Carmarthen (encl.), condolences, the death of [Canon] George Griffiths, the writer's own view of public funerals, how he himself has suffered from 'cliquism', a printed hymn by the writer (encl.), etc.). The other two letters are from D. Howell to Mrs [D. Silvan] Evans, 1887 (Tegid's illness and their own anxiety about Arthur), and to Henry [Silvan Evans], 1898 (a newspaper comment on the application for a Civil List pension for the addressee's father) respectively.

A small imperfect volume containing Welsh poetry and an item of prose written for the most part c. 1600 in various artificial scripts by the scribe of Peniarth MS 65 [Owen John, R.W.M., I, 454] and NLW MS 13081B (Llanover B. 23), with a few additions of slightly later date in other hands at the end. The contents are as follows: pp. 1-74, a series of 'cywyddau', numbered [4]-7 and 9-23, by John Phelip (beginning wanting), Morys ap Howel, Lewys y morganwg, Robert Leia (beginning wanting), John y kent, Gr. llwyd dap Einion lygwy [sic], Sr Owen ap Gwillim, Rys ap Hari 'o Eas', Iolo Goch, and Dafudd ap Rys 'ofeni' [sic]; 75-96, 'cywyddau' by unnamed poets and by Morgan ap hoell, Llywelyn sion, and Thomas lly'n; 97- 126, 'Llyma henway y Pedwar Brenin Ar higain ofrenhinnoedd ynys Brydayin y rhaini y farnwyd yn Gadarnaf . . . There is a note (? incomplete) mentioning Mary John, the wife late of Richard Lewys, and others who entered a house in the parish of Mynythusllon (167). The date 1625 occurs on p. 165.

One of eight volumes consisting of several hundred letters, chiefly of the first half of the nineteenth century, written mainly to John Jenkins and his wife, to Walter Davies and his daughter Jane, and to John Vaughan (Penmaen Dyfi) and other members of his family, by numerous correspondents, including: Samuel Fenton, John Furnival, George Griffith (Hay), James Griffith (Carmarthen), Augusta Hall, Hugh Hughes (artist), John Hughes (author of Horae Britannicae), John Hughes (publisher, Wrexham), William Hughes (harper), Henry Humphreys (Welshpool), and Humphrey Humphreys (Dover).

Sixteen holograph letters from Mary Louisa Williams (aft. Lady Ramsay) to her husband A. C. Ramsay, 1851-[1869] and undated (personal, news of members of the family and of friends, lunch at Carreglwyd, services at Llanrhyddlad and [Llanfairynghornwy], the general election [of 1868], Lady Llanover is incensed at the ingratitude of John Thomas ['Pencerdd Gwalia'] in preferring the pedal harp to the triple stringed, the law respecting the burial of suicides and the removal of 'Henry's body, the progress of Allan [Ramsay] at school, a Sunday School examination by the bishop of Bangor, visits to Llyn Ogwen, etc.). The majority of the letters are written from Borthwen (Llanfaethlu), Llanfairynghornwy, Beaumaris, Glanogwen, Dolaucothy, and [London].

Journal of Margaret Mostyn Jones (née Davies), mostly concerned with the period 19 September 1861 - 6 October 1862 spent in the employ of Augusta Hall, baroness Llanover, with further entries to March 1864. The domestic life of the household at Llanover Hall, with its strict observance of the language, customs and traditions of Wales, is portrayed.

Autograph letters, 1849-1867, to 'Talhaiarn' from William, 1st baron Dinorben, Lady Hall ('Gwenynen Gwent'), William Jones ('Gwrgant'), Edward, 1st baron Mostyn, W. H. Owen, J. Tilleard, William Williams ('Creuddynfab'), Lady Williams Wynn, Sir Watkin Williams Wynn (5th baronet), etc.; an autograph letter of John Gibson, sculptor to Henry Robertson Sandbach, Hafodunos; poetry; etc.

A group of letters largely relating to Harry H. Davis of Pennsylvania, Consul of the United States of America at Cardiff, which include certificates and other material relating to Davis's diplomatic career. There is also some material relating to Ephraim Henry Davies of Barry, including a holograph letter, 1933, from J. Dyfnallt Owen.
Amongst the references made are those to President Ulysses S. Grant; Lady Schreiber (formerly Lady Charlotte Guest); and Augusta Hall, Lady Llanover.

A composite volume containing John Parry ('Y Telynor Dall'): Antient British Music ... (London, 1742), A Collection of Welsh, English & Scotch Airs ... (London [1752]), and British Harmony ... (London, 1781), and a manuscript of John Parry containing arias, minuets, overtures, concertos, Welsh airs, etc., partly with variations by John Parry himself and by Evan Williams [bookseller, London]. Copious manuscript annotations have been added by Nicholas Bennett. Also bound or pasted down in the volume are a note on provenance by E[van] D. J[ones], [19]07; a comment by Carl Engel on Antient British Music ...; an invoice from Bernard Quaritch, London, to N. Bennett, 1888, for Antient British Music ...; a portrait of John Parry; a list by Mary Davies, 1911, of 'Names of tunes written in a copy of Ancient British Music ... 1742 belonging to R. Morris now in British Museum in Addit. MSS. 14939'; critical observations by D. Emlyn Evans on individual songs in Antient British Music ...; and holograph letters from D. Emlyn Evans, Cemmes, Mont., to Mr. Lewis [L. W. Lewis, 'Llew Llwyfo'], [19]07, from Lady Llanover, Llanover, Abergavenny, to the Rev. J. Harmer, 1888, and from Joseph Joseph, F.S.A., Brecon, to [ ], 1888. The spine is lettered 'Vol. I. Antient British Music. J. Parry Rhuabon Blind. 1742'.

Some are in the hand of Augusta Hall, Lady Llanover (ff. 8-13), and include tunes which were published in Maria Jane Williams, Ancient and National Airs of Gwent and Morganwg (Llandovery, 1844).

An imperfect copy of Parts 1 and 2 only of the third quarto edition of the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) printed in Venice by D. Bomberg, 1525-1528 (Part 1, Pentateuch and Megilloth (lacks sig. 2 vi; 5 viii torn), Part 2, Former Prophets). The volume is of special interest in that it contains marginal annotations by Dr. William Morgan, the translator of the Bible into Welsh, some unfortunately cut away at the edges, and in that it was given by him to 'John David', i.e. an early signature of Dr. John Davies of Mallwyd ('John David ex dono reuerendi patris Dñi W. Morgan Episcopi Landauens. 18 September 1595'). Above the ex dono Latin inscription are the words, ρκει σοι ή χάρις μον [cf. MS Bodl. 477, f. 1] and both the signature 'John David' and this quotation from the New Testament [2 Cor. 12, 9] are to be found again on a blank page at the end of Part 1. A contents list, Latin versions of the running titles (Genesis - Deut.), and chapter numbers where they occur, with one or two exceptions, are in the autograph of Dr. John Davies.

One hundred and seven holograph letters written largely by An[dre]w C. Ramsay to [Mary Louisa] Ramsay, 1853-1881 (the activities of the Geological Survey of the United Kingdom and the Geological Survey of Ireland, personal and family affairs, observations on Gloucester Cathedral, the writer's report to Warwick Board of Health, a long chat with Charles Darwin, comments on Lady Llanover's attitude to the harp, comments on the international situation (1870), an account of a visit to Hartlepools, impressions of Lorna Doone (1872), the writer's report on Gibraltar, the recipient's European holiday (1880), etc.). A few of the letters are written from Llangollen, Llanfairynghornwy, Holyhead, and Dolaucothy. Among the few letters not in the hand of Andrew C. Ramsay are three written to him by his wife from the Congregational Manse, Oban, 1872.

Miscellaneous papers (chiefly bills, receipts and printed items (circulars, posters, and handbills), with a few items of correspondence), 1834-1847 and 1853, relating to Cymdeithas Cymreigyddion y Fenni (Abergavenny Cymreigyddion Society). The letters are from D. Ellis, London, [the Rev.] J. B. Evans, Cwmyoy, [John Evans] 'Ieuan ab Gruffydd', Y Fenni, J. Dorney Harding, Doctors' Commons, Josiah Thomas Jones, Merthyr and Cowbridge, [Thomas Evan Watkins] 'Eiddil Ifor', Blaenau Gwent, Edward Williams, Merthyr Tydfil, and [the Revd.] Wm. Williams ['Caledfryn'], Carnarvon, and although written mainly to acknowledge receipt of money they also complement the series contained in NLW MSS 13182-13183E. Printed items include the programme of a concert to be given by Mr. [John] Parry, 'Bardd Alaw', accompanied by Miss Woodham and Mr. Parry, Jun. [i.e. John Orlando Parry], under the patronage of Lady Hall of Llanover, at Abergavenny, 7 September 1838; 'Pennillion i anerch yr Arglwyddes Hall ('Gwenynen Gwent')' by [John Jones] 'Tegid'; proposals, 4 January 1847, for publishing Gardd Eifion, the poetical works of [Robert Williams] Robert ab [sic] Gwilym Ddu...; a copy of J. Jenkins, An A B K, pe kenteliou bêr hak eas evit deski lenn Brezonek en nebeudik amzer (Montroulez: A. L. M. Ledan, 1835); and a copy which belonged to Lady Llanover of Report of the Abergavenny Eisteddfod..., 12-13 October 1853, published by The Carnarvon and Denbigh Herald, and North and South Wales Independent, with two presscuttings, 1885, relating to the welcome home celebrations at Llanover in honour of Colonel Ivor Herbert and his brothers.

A volume issued, 1828, to the antiqury Angharad Llwyd, Tyn-y-rhyl, Flintshire, for the collection of subscriptions towards St David's Welsh Church, Liverpool, but utilised by her as a commonplace and autograph book. Verse and prose entries, 1830-1853, mostly of a religious nature, include autograph poetry by John Jones (Tegid), Thomas Price (Carnhuanawc), and Bryan Waller Procter (Barry Cornwall), and entries by Sir John Bernard Bosanquet, Lady Charlotte Guest, Augusta Hall, Lady Llanover, Henry Hart Milman, David Pennant, William Owen[-Pughe], Thomas Raffles, Henry Raikes, John Bird Sumner, and Frances Wrangham. Also included is a letter of address, 1828, to Angharad Llwyd from the Rev. Robert Davies, perpetual curate of St David's Church (f. iii).
