A decorative, engraved memorial, 1877, to John Jones (d. 1876), Dolau Cothi, Carmarthenshire, compiled and executed by William Davies, Pumsaint, Cynwyl Gaeo, Carmarthenshire, miller, under the patronage and supervision of Augusta Hall, Lady Llanover. Depicted are the deceased's coat of arms, motto and crest, and two views of Plas Dolau Cothi, together with an account of the Johnes family of Dolau Cothi and an explanation of the symbolism in the design; a photograph of Johnes is pasted in the centre of the document. On a label pasted at the bottom is a note signed by Lady Llanover recording that William Davies died on 16 June 1877, three weeks and four days after completing the memorial.

Four hundred letters, 1834-1841, 1847-1848, and undated, relating to Cymdeithas Cymreigyddion y Fenni (Abergavenny Cymreigyddion Society). About half their number are addressed to Thomas Bevan ('Caradawc'), the Society's first secretary. Of the remainder some are addressed to John Evans ('Ieuan ab Gruffydd'), who succeeded Thomas Bevan as secretary, and to the Reverend John Evans, Llanover, who was chairman of the Society for more than one term and secretary from (?) April 1846 onwards, while a few are addressed to other individuals, among them Sir Benjamin Hall, Lady [Augusta] Hall, J. Hiley Morgan, Abergavenny, and the Reverend Thomas Price ('Carnhuanawc'). The matters discussed include subjects for competition, prizes, subscriptions, arrangements for the Anniversaries, etc. The letters have been rearranged slightly and renumbered and a list of the old and new series numbers has been supplied. The writers include William Blackwood, Edinburgh, 1905-10 (the publication of 'Far Eastern Vignettes' by Miss Rankin, enclosing a letter by Lord Linlithgow, the death of King Edward VII, personal); Arabella B. Buckley [from London], 1881 (requesting assistance with church decorations); Charlotte A. M. Johnes, Dolaucothy, etc., 1883-1910 and undated (visitors to Llanover and deaths among Lady Llanover's staff, visits to Marie de Bunsen and others, a pendant for Mary Cookman, the employment of a district nurse, the writer's stay at Promontagno, personal, news of friends); B. [Elizabeth] H[ills] J[ohnes], Dolaucothy, etc., [18]98-1924 and undated (the recipient's picture shown in the Academy, personal, war-time activities, the death of the recipient's mother, an account of Woodstaples Hall, news of friends) (one letter with additions by Charlotte A.
