A volume containing abstracts, [late 19 cent.], of official correspondence and documents dated 1485-1645, arranged chronologically, relating to members of the Owen family of Clenennau; the original letters are to be found among the Clenennau Letters and Papers in NLW, Brogyntyn Estate and Family Records.
Tipped in is a short account, [mid-18 cent.], of 'The civil War between K. Charles 1st & his Parliament', with the note 'To be put in Manuscript cupboard, WWEW' added in pencil in the hand of W. W. E. Wynne, Peniarth (ff. 29, 30).

A printed catalogue, [mid-19 cent.], [compiled by Sir Thomas Phillipps], entitled 'Manuscripts at Porkington, the seat of William Ormsby Gore, Esq. near Oswestry, co. Salop', with pencil additions and alterations in the hand of W. W. E. Wynne, Peniarth. To the printed list of thirty-two manuscripts Wynne has added descriptions of a further seven.

Transcripts by Angharad Llwyd (1780-1866), including pedigrees and Achau Saint from a John Jones of Gellilyfdy manuscript, genealogies from other sources, notes on rectors of Bangor Iscoed, monumental inscriptions at Overton and Nannerch churches, extracts from parish registers, etc. at Overton and Caerwys and from the Llangynhafal vestry book, a cywydd by Gutun Owain (fl. ?late 15 cent.) and Lewis Daron (fl. c. 1520), Llythyr i ofyn rhwyd berced, and recipes; a letter, 1598, from John Spark to John Salusbury (1567-1612), Llewenni, and one, 1833, from William Watkin Edward Wynne (1801-1880) to Angharad Llwyd; etc.

A transcript made in 1575 by Sir Thomas Williams ('physycwr', 'o Drefriw') of an ancient manuscript written on vellum and then in the possession of Maurice Wynn of Gwydir. It contained a Llevelys version of Geoffrey of Monmouth's 'Historia y Brenhinedd' preceded by 'Historia Daret'. In the transcript 'Historia Daret' wants seven or eight pages of its beginning, and ends ' . . . dwy vil a phumcant o ganlyniawdd Antenor, mil a deucant Helenus ac Andromacha. Yd hynn ydd sycrivened historia Daret', with a list following of names of Greek and Trojan warriors slain by leaders on either side. 'Historia y Brenhinedd' begins (without the prologue): 'Aeneas yscwyddwyn wedi ymladd Tro a destryw y gaer . . .' and ends: 'Ac yuelly y tervyna istoria y brenhined cenedl vrython ynys Brydein ac ymladeu Tro a Groec'. The text is followed by a short Latin poem beginning: 'Bruti posteritas Albanis associata . . .' There is also a Welsh 'englyn' on a blank page between the two texts and at the beginning of the volume are two letters from W. W. E. Wynne (Peniarth) to a former owner of the manuscript, 1875.

There are two slips of parchment either end of the manuscript: the first is part of a 16th century deed bearing the signature of one George Hygons; the second part is a letter from T. Duffus Hardy, Public Record Office to W. W. E. Wynne, 30 January 1863.

A volume containing a copy in a mid-seventeenth century hand of 'History of the Gwydir Family' by Sir John Wynn of Gwydir, Caernarvonshire (ff. 8-73 verso). It is an early copy of a recension of the work represented by thirteen other copies (see below).
The text is here followed by pedigrees of and memoranda relating to the Wynn family of Gwydir and its collateral branches in several late seventeenth- or early eighteenth-century hands including that of Humphrey Humphreys, bishop of Bangor, afterwards of Hereford (ff. 75 verso-6, 79 verso-80); he has also added a marginal note on f. 63. Inserted later are a receipt, 1551, and a letter, 1599/1600, in the hand of Sir John Wynn (ff. 83a, 84a-b); and two notes, 1878 and [n.d.], relating to the volume, in the hand of W. W. E. Wynne, Peniarth (ff. 86a, 87a).

Fifteen letters to D. Silvan Evans, one, 1885, from (?) M. B. Wynn, Rothley, Loughborough (the term 'gafaelgi') and fourteen, 1871-9 and undated, from W[illia]m W. E. Wynne, Peniarth (Archaeologia Cambrensis, replying to queries and requesting assistance himself, Sir Watkin's uneasiness about [Gruffydd] Roberts's grammar and his wish to have it returned (from Paris), sympathy, an invitation to the addressee to Peniarth).

Eight letters, 1858 [?1859]-74, from Tho[ma]s Stephens, Merthyr Tydfil, seven of which are addressed to D. Silvan Evans and one to W. W. E. Wynne, Peniarth (copy). Accompanying one of the letters to D. Silvan Evans are transcripts of four letters, 1846-9, from the Reverend Walter Davies ('Gwallter Mechain'), writing from Penmaen Dovey n[ea]r Machynlleth and Llanrhaiadr, Oswestry, to Thomas Stephens ('Casnodyn'). Subjects touched upon include D. Silvan Evans's orthography [i.e. Llythyraeth yr iaith Gymraeg], the 'Madogwys', the Llangollen essay, the (new) bishop of Bangor, the Hengwrt manuscripts and articles for Archaeologia Cambrensis.
