Inset at the end of the volume are transcripts of Montgomeryshire pedigrees, etc. Much of the material in the volume has been transcribed from other volumes now in the Cwrtmawr Collection (e.g. MSS 200, 222, 242 and 243) and there are references to such sources as 'un o lyfrau Maesglas Mallwyd' (transcribed in 1857) (p. 269), a manuscript in the hand of Robert Arthur (p. 342), 'Llyfr ym meddiant Lowri Jones' (p. 380), etc. A note pasted on the inside of the upper cover states 'This Vol. was copied by Owen Jones (brother of Myrddin Fardd) from a MS Vol. ... in the handwriting of Lewis Morris [Cwrtmawr MS 200] now at Bryntanad, Llanerfyl Montgomerys[hire] (Richards) E. Breese'. Owen Jones was for a short time a private tutor at BrynTanad (see The Dictionary of Welsh Biography). The spine is lettered 'Mannoethwy MSS'.

A volume containing forty-five holograph letters, 1820-30, mostly dated, on guards, with a few drafts and miscellaneous papers, from Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'; 1795-1855), writing at various times from Trefriw, Croesoswallt [Oswestry], Berriw (Aberrhiw), Llanrwst, St Bees, Chester and Christleton to 'Teulu Darowen' (addressed generally to the Reverend Thomas Richards (1754-1837), Darowen) and to individual members of the Darowen family, viz. the Reverend David Richards, vicar of Llansilin, the Reverend Thomas Richards (1785-1855), Berriew, later rector of Llangynyw, M[eistresa]n Sian Rhisiard, Darowen and the Reverend Richard Richards, Caerwys, and one letter, 1822, from J[ames] Evans, Sec[retary], Cymmrodorion Institution, London to Mr Evan Evans, Grammar School, Berriew, Montgomeryshire. The subjects discussed by Evan Evans include his health, education and financial position, literary matters (references to Y Gwyliedydd), his situation in the church, etc. The other items in the volume include a draft of a letter to [ ] Parry and lines of verse entitled 'Poor little Sweep'. The present arrangement of the letters is chronological, however a list [?in the autograph of J. H. Davies] inside the front cover relates to earlier numbers preceded by the letters 'E. E.' [? for Evan Evans] which are to be found on many of the letters near the address.

A volume made up of fourteen letters, 1819-1851, from John Jones (Tegid or Ioan Tegid, 1792-1852), Oxford and later Nevern, to various correspondents. The details are as follows: six letters, 1819-1826, to the Rev. Thomas Richards, Berriew (the education of the addressee's brother and of E. Evans [probably 'Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'], a 'cywydd' on the death of Mrs Bosanquet, literary matters, adverse criticism from the bishop of Llandaff [William van Mildert] of a proof-sheet of the edition of the Welsh Prayer Book which the writer had undertaken to superintend); four letters, 1820-1824, to the Rev. David Richards, Llansilin (the education of the addressee's younger brother [Lewis], literary matters, the addressee's marriage, etc.); one letter, 1839, to Miss Angharad Lloyd [sic] (the Liber Landavensis is now in the press, he has completed his Welsh version of Isaiah direct from the Hebrew); one letter, 1846, to Owen Williams, Waenfawr (literary matters, criticism of the addressee's proposed 'Vocabulary'); one letter, 1851, to [Ebenezer Thomas] Eben Fardd (re. adjudicating the 'pryddestau' on 'Golygfa Moses &c'); and one letter, 1850, to the Rev. Richard Richards [Meifod] (he is glad to hear of the addressee's success, a proposed monument to Bishop William Morgan and the Rev. Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) at Llanrhaiadr yn Mochnant, plans for a commentary in Welsh on the Epistle to the Galatians etc.). Also included in the volume are extracts, 1845, from a manuscript of Rowland Hugh 'o'r Graienyn ger y Bala' ('Brawd Nain Ioan Tegid o du ei fam oedd Rowland Hugh'), transcripts of two letters, the originals of which are to be found in Peniarth MS 11, viz. a letter, 1847, from [John Jones] Tegid, Nevern to the Lady Charlotte E. Guest and a letter, 1860, from Tho[ma]s Stephens, Merthyr Tydfil to W. W. E. Wynne, Esq., and an outline of 'Tegid's Feet [shoes] drawn at the Vicarage Darowen at the request of ?M. D. Jones, Darowen, 1836'.

The volume was subsequently used by Mary Richards, Darowen, and, to a lesser extent, by Thomas R. Williams, Bryn Tanad, Llanerfyl, to record transcripts of a list of British kings to George III ('Tabl o holl Frenhinodd Prydain or dechreiad Cyntaf hyd ein Brenin George y IIII) from the Almanac of Thomas Jones, Shrewsbury, 1709; poetry in strict and free metres by E[dward] J[ones] (Periglor Caer Einion) (1875), [Hugh Parry] (Cefni) (Utica, N.Y.) A composite volume comprising two notebooks originally used by the Reverend Thomas Richards (1754-1837) for personal and family memoranda and accounts (mainly 1821-37) of debts, wages paid to female servants, tithes, provisions, payments of interest and repayments of debts. It also includes accounts, 1816-24, between H. L. Eddes Gwynne and the Reverend Thomas Richards relating to Hirnant rents. The volume was subsequently used by Mary Richards, Darowen to record transcripts of letters, mainly between various members of the Richards family but including also letters from R. Some of the items have been transcribed from the manuscript(s) of 'Cadwaladr Robert o Lan y Mowddwy' and 'John Cadwalader' (p. 87) and 'Cadwaladr Davidd lan y Mowddwy' (p. 132).
