A manuscript containing the poetical works of Lewis Glyn Cothi, Tudur Aled, Tudur Penllyn, Sion Cent, Ieuan ap Tudur Penllyn, Rhys Cain and others. There is some controversy as to whether f. 137 contains work by Llewelyn ab Ieuan or by Deio ab Ieuan Du. The volume is labelled 'Odlau a Chywydda. A. 4°'.
Ff. i-ii, 137-143b are not in the same hand as the rest of the manuscript, and ff. 144b-146 are in a modern hand. Ff. 1-56 may be copied from Peniarth MS 109; the order of the poems is the same at first, but the readings do not always agree, and there are four poems in this manuscript which are not in Peniarth MS 109. Pp. 11-96 of Peniarth MS 77 are copied from this manuscript. William Salesbury or Sir T. Wiliems has written what looks like 'rhyderch ap Howel ap Dauyd' on f. 136b.

A collection of South Wales pedigrees compiled between 1578 and 1588. It also contains a copy (mutilated) of a poem by Siôn Cent beginning 'Pannyd Ryfedd wirionedd ar inion olwc' and a list (also mutilated) of the names of the sheriffs of Breconshire. Their year of office is not given, but there are 92 names in all, the last three being Thomas Bulcott, Thomas Gwyn, and John Stedman: the list differs slightly from that printed in Theophilus Jones's History of Brecknockshire. Iolo Morganwg has annotated the volume and has frequently written 'Dal sylw!' or similar phrases in the margins. He has also picked out various names which occur in the pedigrees, among them 'Meredydd ap Rhys ap Rhiccert' (p. 41) and 'Rhys goch ap Rhiccert' (p. [1]15), although in the second instance the name in the pedigree is 'wenllian verch Rys goch ap Rys voel ap Rikert ap einion ap gollwyn'.

An imperfect, composite manuscript consisting of transcripts, in a number of hands of the late sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, of miscellaneous prose and verse items including Welsh poems in strict metre by Edward Dafydd, Dauudd Edward, Davydd William, 'viccar Penllin', Lewis Mfln, Thomas ap Rys 'o blas jolyn', Phillipp Pwell, John Tudur, Dauidd ap Gwilym, Robin Ddv, Gruffydd ap Iefan, John Philipps, Iolo Goch, Thomas Derllysc, Gruffydd Gryg, Siôn Cent, Richard Kynnwal, Huw Machno, Robert Dyfi, and Kadwalader Kesel, two versions of the code of rules for regulating the craft and conduct of the Welsh bardic order generally attributed to Gruffudd ap Cynan, a copy of 'The order of the funerall of John Conway of Botruthan in the Countie of Flint, Esquier, who was intered in Rithlan the 23th of December 1606', a prophesy entitled 'The prophesie of Gre[ ]' (Latin), and a short sequence of Welsh triads. Some of the leaves bear contemporary foliation indicating that they formed sections of other manuscripts. An inscription in the hand of Edward Williams (Iolo Morganwg) on the previous upper cover lists the contents of the volume, and, from this list, it appears that a section containing an account of Gruffudd ap Cynan's sojourn in Ireland in 1098 ('Hanes Gruffudd ap Cynan yn y Werddon yn y flwyddyn 1098') has been lost since the time the inscription was written. There are a few marginal annotations by Iolo Morganwg.

An imperfect manuscript consisting of thirty folios of uniform size and two smaller leaves, with the two halves of ? the lower cover of an early nineteenth century periodical or part publication, which at one time seems to have served as a protective covering, bound in at the beginning. A considerable part of the original manuscript appears to have been lost as the volume was described by the Reverend John Williams ('Ab Ithel'), circa 1856, as containing 'about 100 pages' (see L. James: Hopkiniaid Morganwg . . . (Bangor, 1909), p. 91). The former protective cover bears the inscription 'Llyfr Llanfihangel Iorwerth. Cywyddau amrafaelion. Siôn Cent hyd Dafydd Hopcin o'r Coetty. Englynion Eiry Mynydd, &c.', in the hand of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'), and the contents consist of transcripts of Welsh verse mainly in strict metre. Dafydd Hopkin of Coety, co. Glamorgan is sometimes named as the copyist (see L. James: op. cit., p. 91; TLLM, tt. 229, 267; and IMCY, t. 139). In a note on the aforementioned 'title-page' (p. 199) Edward Williams claims to have transcribed this collection in 1799 from a manuscript in the possession of Siams Thomas of Maerdy Newydd, co. Glamorgan. Preceding and following the actual text of the collection are transcripts of a prefatory letter dated 1685 (pp. 201-06) and of the concluding note already referred to (p. 390) both of which are attributed to the Glamorgan scribe and copyist Thomas ab Iefan of Tre Bryn as compiler of the manuscript from which Edward Williams was allegedly copying (see TLLM, t. 172; IM, tt. 291-4). Pp. 391-477 contain a transcript of a collection, in alphabetical order, of over three thousand Welsh proverbs attributed to Cattwg Ddoeth ('Llyma Ddiarhebion Cattwg Ddoeth . . . sef yw hwnn Ail Lyfr y Gwyddfardd Cyvarwydd'). This collection, according to the aforementioned note at the end of the preceding section (p. 390) attributed to Thomas ab Iefan, had been compiled by the said Thomas from various sources and formed a continuation of the previous section. Edward Williams's claim with regard to the Siams Thomas volume is probably intended to apply to the contents of pp. 391-477 as well. The greater part of the manuscript was written in the seventeenth century; but there are additions and marginal notes to the nineteenth century. There is an index ('Tabl y llyfr') to ff. 1--76, in a seventeenth century hand. Between ff. 4 and 6 are inserted two leaves (pp. 129-30, 135-6) of David Jones (Trefriw) (ed.): Cydymaith Diddan (Caer Lleon [1766]).

A negative photostat facsimile of Welsh MS. 2 in the John Rylands Library, Manchester, being an incomplete early eighteenth century collection of poetry, largely in the form of 'cywyddau', by Sion Philip, Rhisiart Philip, Edmund Price [sic], William Cynwal, Evan Bry[dy]dd hir, Lewis Môn, Sion Cent, Tudyr Aled, David ap Gwillim [sic], David Nanmor [sic] and others. On p. 76 is a text of 'Brenin dlysau ynys Brydai[n]'. Later eighteenth century additions include a certificate of a declaration of an oath by Edd. Vaughan of Lanymowddy, Merioneth, 2 November, 1750, that a red heifer sold at Dinnas Mowddy and the herd from which it is taken are free from the infection now raging among horned cattle in the Kingdom.
