Material from the library of the Reverend John Lloyd, Brunant, Cayo, relating almost entirely to late eighteenth and early nineteenth century parliamentary elections for the county of Carmarthen and for the county of the borough of Carmarthen. They consist of poetry, including 'An Essay on the Characters &c. of the Governors of the Boro' of Carmarthen', 1789, 'From plain Truth addressed ... to the Cambrian Sappho' by Mrs. [Maria Justina] Cowell, 1802, 'The Carmarthenshire Parson and a Freeholder. A Dialogue' by [Lewis] Lewis, rector of Clovelly, 1802, etc.; a state of the poll for the hundred of Cayo in the Carmarthenshire election, 16 July - 2 August 1802; holograph and autograph letters, 1807, of Herbert Lloyd, Carmarthen, [Lord] Robert Seymour, Llandilo, and Danl. Price, Junior, Talley; addresses to the Freeholders of the county of Carmarthen by 'A Freeholder', 1807, and to Lord D[ynevor] by 'A Carmarthenshire Freeholder', undated; and printed matter including a poem entitled 'County of the borough of Carmarthen. November, 15th, 1796. The Independent Burgesses's Glory', 'Carmarthen Election Committee, April 5th, 1803. Also included is a shoemaker's accounts and a charm against tooothache.

A collection entitled 'Casgliad o hên Gerddi difyr a digri', being transcripts, with annotations, by J. H. Davies from manuscript and printed sources, notably NLW Add. MS 9 in the hand of David Jones ('Dewi Fardd'), Trefriw, of 'cerddi', 'carolau', and a few cywyddau, by Robt. Humphreys alias Ragad, Angharad James, Rees Ellis, Morus Rhobert, Cadwaladr Morris, Richard Thomas, Hugh ab Evan, William Phylip, William Pyrs Dafydd, Edward Roberts ('o'r Yspytty'), Beuno Ben-noeth ('o Sir Gaer helbul'), Lewis Cynllwyd, Maurice Evans, Rowland Vaughan, Salbri Powel, Richard Phylip ('Philip Bach pan oedd Sawdwr'), Huwcyn Sion, John Edwards ('o Gae-môr'), Morgan Llwyd ('o Faentwrog'), Dafydd Evans ('o Lansilin'), Wm. The volume also contains anonymous poems and a list of 'Cerddi'r Te' or ballads based on the general introduction of tea-drinking into Wales. At the end there are an index of first lines of the poems included in the volume, an index of authors and a calendar of the contents of NLW Add. MS 9. The collection was compiled approximately during February - July 1902.

A small volume entitled 'Cell-gasgl Sion Lleyn, 1805', containing 'englynion' (chiefly epitaphs), stanzas in free metre including hymn stanzas, and one or two longer poems (e.g. 'Awdl ar Dosturi 1809' and 'Pillion i Dwm or Nant herwydd ei Lyfr, sef Ban y Byd - Creglais o Groglofft &c, 1809, Ebrill 27') by and in the autograph of John Roberts ('Sion Lleyn'). Other poets represented are Griffth Williams('Guttun Peris'), W. Elias and O[wen] Griffith. There is also a list of unfamiliar Welsh words ('Geiriau Cymraeg dieithrol yn amlwg'), with the following note: 'Hyn a gymerwyd o gasgliadau Thos Prys Esqur, Plas Iolun, a D. Ddu a S. Lleyn'. On p. 58 is the note 'Mai 11. 1812 Priodais' [see Cwrtmawr MS 510, p. 106].
