A manuscript volume, written throughout by William Owen [-Pughe], containing transcripts of parts of two older manuscripts, the one in the hand of Lewis Morris (BL Add. MS 14908, ff. 36-58), and the other in the hand of Owen Jones (Owain Myfyr) (BL Add. MS 15020, pp. 1-5, 7-12, 27-28, 33-35, 44-45, 52-58, 67-70, 93-107, 109-115, 117-123). The first item in the present manuscript is a transcript of the Statute of Rhuddlan, 'Ystatus Rhuddlan yw hon. A.D. 1283', copied from Lewis Morris's manuscript, which is in turn a copy of a vellum manuscript in the Hengwrt library (now Peniarth MS 41), which he transcribed in 1738 (pp. 1-39). The remainder of the present manuscript is copied from BL Add. A holograph manuscript of Peter Bailey Williams containing annotated transcripts of 'awdlau', 'cywyddau' and 'englynion' by Goronwy Owen; letters of Goronwy Owen, Lewis Morris ('Llewelyn Ddu o Fôn'), and William Morris (printed in J. H. Davies (ed.): The Letters of Goronwy Owen (1723-1769) (Cardiff 1924), The Letters of Lewis, Richard, William and John Morris ... 1728-1765, vols I-II (Aberystwyth, 1907-09), etc.); lists of 'Modern Welsh Authors, [fl. 1590-1770] and '... Inset at the end of the volume are transcripts of Montgomeryshire pedigrees, etc. Much of the material in the volume has been transcribed from other volumes now in the Cwrtmawr Collection (e.g. MSS 200, 222, 242 and 243) and there are references to such sources as 'un o lyfrau Maesglas Mallwyd' (transcribed in 1857) (p. 269), a manuscript in the hand of Robert Arthur (p. 342), 'Llyfr ym meddiant Lowri Jones' (p. 380), etc. A note pasted on the inside of the upper cover states 'This Vol. was copied by Owen Jones (brother of Myrddin Fardd) from a MS Vol. ... in the handwriting of Lewis Morris [Cwrtmawr MS 200] now at Bryntanad, Llanerfyl Montgomerys[hire] (Richards) E. Breese'. Owen Jones was for a short time a private tutor at BrynTanad (see The Dictionary of Welsh Biography). The spine is lettered 'Mannoethwy MSS'.

A composite volume almost entirely in the hand of Daniel Silvan Evans containing Welsh metrical translations of poetry by Felicia Dorothea Hemans, Helen Herbert (Aberaeron), Edward Verity (St David's College, Lampeter), Lord Byron, [Johann Wolfgang von] Goethe, etc. and original poetry by D. Miscellaneous papers, including an extract 'From the Mabinogion of Lady Guest' [cf. The Mabinogion ... translated with notes, by Lady Charlotte Guest (London, 1877), pp. 74-6], a list of early Welsh books (in the autograph of [Thomas Edward Ellis], an extract from Kinmel MS 76 [NLW MS 1576] relating to Thomas Lloyd of Penmaen, and a bibliography entitled '"Y Bardd Cwsc" by Elis Wyn o Lasynys' [cf. The Journal of the Welsh Bibliographical Society, Vol. IV, pp. 199-208]. There are also a number of blue wrappers from past issues of 'Beibl Peter Williams' (1770) and the Welsh edition of Cann's Bible (1790) with printed proposals, Trefecca, 1786, relating to the latter, and part of a notebook (eighteenth century), which belonged to David Jones of Bryn y Rhig near Dolgelly and others, containing a few 'englynion', etc.

A collection of 'cywyddau' attributed to Dafydd ap Gwilym (17), Dafydd Nanmor (2), Hugh Morys, Madog Benfras, Iolo Goch, and Rhys Cain; 'cerddi' by Ellis Roberts Cowper, and Lewis Morris ('Llywelyn Ddu') ('Llythur Cymun Morgan Goch y Melinydd', with an addition by William Jones, and 'Cerdd Marwnad Llewelyn bach o Gaer ludd'); 'englynion' by Merddyn Emrys and Huw Huws; and an English 'charol to be sung on Christmas morning' by Hugh Hughes, 'late of Foel near Llanerchymedd'.

An imperfect, composite volume (pp. 33-86, two imperfect, unnumbered leaves, pp. 93-146, with p. 72 blank) containing transcripts of Welsh strict-metre verse, mostly in the form of 'cywyddau', by Tudur Aled, William Phylip, Siôn Phylip, Siôn Dafydd Siencin, David ap Gwilim, Owen Gwynedd, William Lleyn, Evan Tew (1590), Ellis Rowland, Tomas Prys ('o Blas Iolyn'), Dafydd ddu ('o hiraddig'), Morys Thomas Howel, Siôn Tudur ('Swyddog Yn perthun i Esgobeth Llan Elwau'), Roger Cyffin, Gwerfil Mechain, Evan ap R. ap Llewellyn, Gutto'r Glyn, Gruffydd Owen, Edward Vrien, Edward ap Rhus, Rhys Cain, Ierwerth Fynglwyd, Rhees ap Ednyfed, Rhydderch ab Evan Llwyd ('Meisdr o ddysg'), Doctor John Cent, Sir David Trefor, Dafydd Evan ab Owen, Dafydd Nanmor, and Gryffydd Gryg.
