Deeds and documents, 1719-1855, relating mainly to the Peniarth estate in Merionethshire and Caernarfonshire, mainly leases, bonds and mortgages, 1728-1767.

Records of Messrs David and David, comprising records of valuations of properties in South Wales and the adjoining counties of England made during the period 1846-1933, including Breconshire, 1872-1912; Carmarthenshire, 1865-1884; Glamorgan, 1846-1926; Monmouthshire, 1867-1933; Gloucestershire, 1875-1880; Herefordshire, 1874-1881; and Somerset, 1876-1885. The records include surveys, reports, valuations, correspondence, notes, plans, valuation schedules, sale notices and copy agreements. Many of the records reflect the industrial and urban development of South Wales and quite a number of the individual valuations are of land subject to compulsory purchase by railway companies and public utilities.

A group of documents relating to gold mining in Merioneth. It includes notes on various gold mines in the county; correspondence addressed principally to O. Parry Hughes, 1918-36; typescript evidence prepared for the Merioneth Gold Mining Inquiry, 1930, and a report of the proceedings; memoranda relating to the formation and development of the Merioneth Mining Development Committee, 1930; copies of printed reports by Professor Henry Louis on the possibilities of gold mining in Merioneth, 1930; notes on diamond drilling and its possibilities in Merionethshire; together with a few printed items, two photographs, press cuttings and miscellanea.

There are marks of editing and correction on some of the poems, which suggests that these particular ones may be in the autograph of one of the scribes.

A manuscript containing transcripts mainly by David Saunders (Dafydd ap Tomas Saunders), Lampeter, afterwards of Merthyr Tydfil, with some by David Jones (Glaswalch), Lampeter, and comprising awdlau and other poetry by David Saunders, David Jones and others; Hyfforddiad I beroriaeth Eglwys; hymn- and psalm-tunes; the rules of Welsh poetry; a list of Welsh poets; etc.

Two autograph albums, 1918-1925, which belonged to Miss Jennie Powel Parry, the donor's aunt, from her time at Pen-y-groes County School, and later at Bangor Normal College. Included with the largest album is an unpublished poem by Sir Thomas Parry, 1921, and a letter of condolence on the death of her mother in 1961.

An autograph album, 1879-1918, thought to belong to 'Ap Ieuan', possibly Samuel Evans, a member of Tabernacl Welsh Congregational church, Shrewsbury, containing entries in Welsh, English, Chinese and other eastern and African languages, mainly by Congregationalist ministers and missionaries, including Ben Davies, Pant-teg, T. Eynon Davies, David Picton Jones, J. R. Kilsby Jones and H. Elvet Lewis ('Elfed'); together with pasted-in photographs. Papers found loose inside have been tipped in at the end of the volume (ff. 27-32).

A typescript M.A. dissertation, 1957, for Liverpool University Department of Celtic by J[ohn] G[lyn] Penrhyn Jones, entitled 'A history of medicine in Wales in the eighteenth century'.
The dissertation includes chapters on social conditions in Wales, the impact of the Industrial Revolution, 'folk' medicine and herbalism, and biographies of prominent medical men. Supplementary material, including extracts from printed and manuscript sources, is to be found in the Appendices (ff. 164-329). Two tables of contents are included (f. iii, 163a).

Deeds and other documents mainly relating to families and estates in the St Davids area, Pembrokeshire, 1694-1896, including manuscript maps relating to the parishes of Llanrheithan and Mathri, Pembrokeshire, and Llanwinio, Carmarthenshire, 1812-1821. The families involved include Howells of Llysyfran, Ford of Stonehall, Owen of Orielton, James of Llandeloy and St Edrins, Parry of Porthiddy (Llanrian), Laugharne of Orlandon, and Mathias of Lochmeyler and Castle Cenlas. The Mathias family include Rev. John Matthias (d. 1805) of Lochmeyler, vicar of Llandeloy, who bought Castle Cenlas, c.1792.

Deeds, documents and business papers, 1843-1955, of the Evans family of Neuaddfawr and Rhydyronen, p. Llanfihangel Genau'r Glyn, Cardiganshire, together with poor rate books for the township of Trefeurig in the parish of Llanbadarn Fawr, [1850s]-[1860s] and an account book of Seion Independent Chapel in the township of Ceulan-a-Maesmor, 1857-1872.

A register of criminals apprehended by Cardiganshire Constabulary, 1897-1933, with physical descriptions of prisoners and details of previous convictions. Photographs are included of most of those sentenced between 1897 and 1909.

Papers of and acquired by John Thomas Evans and his brother A. W. Wade-Evans 1590-1964, largely antiquarian in interest, comprising transcripts, mostly by J. T. The records deposited in 1934 included two major groups, the 'Trevecka Group' and the 'Bala College Group'. The former, which represents the largely autonomous 18th-century development of Methodism in Wales, beginning in the 1730s, is centred on the archives of the founding father of Welsh Methodism, Howell Harris, and of the religious community which he established, the 'Trevecka Family'. Besides the 290 volumes of Howell Harris's diaries (for 1735-73), it comprises some 3000 letters, accounts of Societies (individual groups of adherents) and records of Associations. The 'Bala College Group' represents the development of Methodism during the 19th century, its spread in North Wales, the separation from the Established Church in 1811 and the formation of the Confession of Faith in 1823. The accessions of the years 1934 to 1974 include the records of the Sasiwn [the Association], district meetings, colleges, some individual chapels and churches, personal archives (both those of ministers and laymen), and those of the Foreign Mission. In content, the accessions of the years 1974-83 are distinguished from those of the earlier period by the high proportion of records of individual churches, many of them deposited because of the closure of the church. A third series, following a classification similar to that of the second, lists accessions from July 1983 onwards. The records of the North Cardiganshire Presbytery, detailed in a schedule [c.1940], have been withdrawn. Particular mention should be made of the archives of the Foreign Mission, which cover the missionary work of the Church in North East India from its beginning in the 1840s.
