Agricultural estate receipts and payments books

Annual accounts of receipts and payments, including for agricultural and mineral estate rents, sales of timber and coppice woods, War Damage Commission payments, rates and taxes, tithe rent charge annuities, insurance, seawalls and drainage, repairs, woods and plantations, Ruperra Castle, and remittances to Lord Tredegar.

Newport estate surveys

Surveys of the TWC estate, called terriers by the TWC, and including details of leases granted by the company. The earliest lease is dated 1808. In ANS 1/3 the leases are arranged by street.

Newport estate reports and valuations (W. Rees)

Reports, particulars and valuations of properties in the TWC's leasehold estate. Most of the reports seem to have been made to estimate the annual increased reserved rent to be paid by tenants for extensions of leases. ANS 4/1 is a collection of loose reports and valuations, c.1854-1901, brought together for convenience. ANS 4/2-4 comprise original files of particulars and valuations, 1881-1901, extracted from three binders intitled 'T. W. estate, W. Rees' reports'.

Rhiwderyn materials received daybooks

Daybooks containing an account of materials arriving at the Tredegar estate works, Rhiwderyn. From the rear of ADY 2/1 is an account of 69 lots of sawn oak received from the mill, 1914-(?). ADY 2/2 is closed with the endorsement 'End of account. See "Materials Inward" book, no. 2'.

Rhiwderyn building materials books

Desk diaries used as daybooks, containing lists and prices of building materials used to repair and maintain estate properties. It may be possible to relate these books to the Rhiwderin estate works ledgers (ADY 1) and daybooks (ADY 2-3), although a cursory examination failed to do so. The 1936 volume starts at the beginning of the year, and the 1949 volume continues to the end of the year, so there were probably predecessor and successor volumes that have not survived. The volumes for 1936-1943 contain lists of (employees'?) Health Insurance cards received, and 1936-40 of 'Trustee work - cowsheds, water supplies etc'. The 1940 volume encloses monthly lists, March-Oct., of 'cubic ft of timber issued from yard', giving the total amount of timber and the amount of home-grown larch, oak, etc. The 1941 volume contains a list of properties for which forms C.2 have been received.

Breconshire deeds

Breconshire deeds and leases, mainly draft conveyances relating to the 1915 sale of much of the Breconshire estate.

Herefordshire deeds

Deeds and related papers relating to Herefordshire properties. Three files (D 3/3, 6-7) are original bundles relating to the Edwards family of Whitfield in the parish of Peterstow. -- The other five files consist of Herefordshire deeds and related papers, 1505-1845, that have been brought together in chronological order for convenience. Most of these papers were probably originally bundled together, but were found loose. They relate to properties in the parishes of Hentland, Goodrich, Bridstow, Peterstow, Marstow, and in 'Wilton', 'Clewston' and 'Owld Mill'. Properties include the capital messuage of Penmerk in the township of Little Wilton in the lordship of Wilton upon Wye, and two water corn mills called the New Mills in the parish of Eaton Bishop. The papers include leases, bonds, final concords, probates of wills, conveyances, accounts, memoranda, a map, 18 cent., and a survey, c.1845. -- These estates may be those contested in the court case, Edwards v. Scudamore, 1723-1790 (Tredegar L 2), and some at least were in the possession of Octavius Morgan, c.1845, which probably explains these papers' presence among the Tredegar estate records.
