= Letters sent to the Reverend W. M. Rees in support of Llangyndeyrn residents in their stand against Swansea Corporation. The correspondents comprise the adjudicator, politician and dramatist Saunders Lewis, the poet, novelist and Baptist minister Rhydwen Williams, the nationalist and politician Gwynfor Evans and the author, reviewer and psychiatrist Harri Pritchard-Jones. Supplementary material comprises printed notes referencing the correspondence received by W. M. Rees during the fight for victory, together with a reproduced selection of that correspondence (see also Sefyll yn y Bwlch: Brwydr Llangyndeyrn 1960-1965, pp. 140-153).

Williams and Lewis Valentine to the Welsh Nationalist Party newspaper Y Ddraig Goch, September 1937, following their release from prison after serving a sentence for the arson attack at the bombing-school at Penyberth; together with a note from Lewis Valentine to Morris T. Williams and his wife, Kate Roberts.

A note, 1926, in the hand of A[rthur] Foulkes-Roberts, highly critical of Saunders Lewis, pasted on a printed review by the latter of Cywyddau Iolo Goch ac Eraill, ed. by Henry Lewis, et al. (1925), which appeared in Y Llenor, October 1926.

Notebook of Berta Ruck, January-June 1937, containing diary entries, ideas for fiction, comments on the progress of her writing, and pasted-in letters and cards to her, together with her typescript account of attending the trial at the Old Bailey of Saunders Lewis, Lewis Valentine and D. J. Williams, sketches of the defendants and related press cuttings and correspondence. Also pasted in are press cuttings relating to other contemporary events, including the coronation of George VI and the marriage of Edward, duke of Windsor.

Includes a typescript copy of a poem by Peter Levi entitled 'Thirty ways of drowning in the sea', with a letter from Alasdair Clayre at All Souls College, Oxford, dated 17 Sept. 1965, asking David Jones whether he would like 'a drawing or two drawings of yours to be used as illustrations for a limited edition of this poem?' (for drafts of a reply to this letter see A2/1), and typescript copies of poems by Charles Madge ('The Storming of the Brain', dated 2 July 1950), Dylan Thomas ('Elegy'), Saunders Lewis ('The Choice', translated by R. Wynne), Stefan George ('Come in the Park described as dead and see', translated by Vernon Watkins and signed by him), William Hayward, Herbert Read, and a translation of 'Wales' by Gwenallt Jones.

Typescript and manuscript copies of political essays and letters by John Legonna, many of them written for publications such as 'Baner ac Amserau Cymru', 'Wales' and 'Catalyst', with related press cuttings and letters, concerning Welsh and Celtic nationalism, the New Nation Group, Plaid Cymru, Welsh history, pacifism, the border of Wales and England, the border of Cornwall and England, Breton nationalism, Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg, the U.S.S.R. and its relations with Germany, and the relationships of Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, Fascism, Nationalism and Christianity, including a review of Ned Thomas, 'The Welsh extremist: a culture in crisis', and some observations on Saunders Lewis and Julian Cayo Evans, together with an invitation to Legonna to speak on national reconstruction at the Oxford Union, 1944, a review by John Davies of Plaid Cymru's performance in an Abertillery by-election, the agenda of a Welsh nationalist conference held at Caernarfon, 1943, a copy of the Liberal Review, 1944, and a notice of Labour Party meetings in Penryn and Falmouth.

Transcripts of letters and memoranda, both typescript and handwritten, 1936-1937, in support of Saunders Lewis, dismissed from his post as senior lecturer in the Department of Welsh, University College of Swansea, following the Penyberth arson of September 1936.
They include a manuscript draft (ff. 121-123) and partial typescript copy (f. 125), [1937], of a letter sent on behalf of the College's teaching staff to the Executive Council [?of the Association of University Teachers], expressing support for Lewis; a typescript copy of the letter, 20 October 1936, from Principal C. A. Edwards to Lewis, informing him of the decision to suspend him from his duties pending the termination of legal proceedings (f. 120), with a manuscript copy of the same, [1937] (f. 119); a typescript copy of part of a letter, 15 February 1937, to accompany a petition by members of the academic staff calling for his reinstatement (f. 124); and a note by Stephen J. Williams summarising Lewis' literary and political work, published in May 1937 in Universities Review, 9 (1936-37), 169 (f. 126).

Scripts of a number of radio or television plays for which Alun Hoddinott apparently composed the incidental music, but for which no music has been identified. The titles include 'Treason' and 'Yn y tren' (Saunders Lewis), and 'Jackie the jumper' (Gwyn Thomas),

A scrapbook of material relating to William Thomas ('Islwyn'), including press cuttings, etc., in connection with negotiations for the purchase and restoration of his birthplace at Tŷ'r Agent, Ynys-ddu, 1925-1926, and press cuttings, correspondence (addressed to A. W. Games, Cwmfelin-fach), printed matter, photographs, labels attached to relics and personalia, and a balance sheet, in connection with centenary celebration meetings held in 1932 at Cwmfelin-fach and Ynys-ddu. The correspondents include Timothy Rees, bishop of Llandaff, Joseph Bradney, Saunders Lewis, Ifan ab Owen Edwards and John Kyrle Fletcher.
