Looking across a meadow towards Lago Verde, Los Alerces National Park. KW is believed to have visited this area on December 23rd 1968 - see p 179-180 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991). Slides 4690/19 & 21-22 were taken from the same approximate location.

[Lago Fagnano II]

On pages 190-191 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991) KW recalls sketching on the shore of Lake Fagnano, the most southerly lake in the world. Similar to slide 4690/240.

[Jagged mountain peak, Los Alerces]

A jagged peak on the left of the frame with two other peaks to the centre and right. KW is believed to have visited this area on December 23rd 1968 - see p 179-180 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991). See also slides 4690/26 & 28.

[Inland cliff, possibly Los Altares]

Limestone cliffs forming a promontory in the desert. This cliff is reminiscent of the cliffs in two KW paintings - 'Los Altares' (NLW PB7139) & 'Los Altares' (NLW 200202405)

[Houses, Ushuaia]

Houses constructed from wood and brightly painted corrugated iron photographed against a backdrop of steep hills.

[House, Los Alerces]

A modern stone built house. A plaque on the front of the building has the wording 'Republica Argentina' & an unidentified logo. This may be the house of Don Diego Neill, Intendente of Los Alerces National Park with whom Kyffin Williams stayed for a time in December 1968. Slide 4690/215 shows the driveway approaching the house.

[Horses grazing, Cwm Hyfryd]

In the foreground are a mass of flowers, possibly Oxeye daisies (Leucanthemum vulgare). Beyond them two horses are grazing in the middle distance. On the horizon can be seen Gorsedd y Cwmwl. A variant of slide 4690/290.

[Horses and cart]

Horses, one in the shafts of a cart, tethered outside a one storey brick building. A dog and boy are also in attendance. Probably Trevelin.

[The Cliffs, Lle Cul]

Limestone cliffs under a bright blue sky. On the left hand side of the photo there is evidence of either a geological fault or possibly an angular unconformity.
