A volume written largely in the autograph of Ebenezer Thomas, ('Eben Fardd') and described on the title-page as 'Llyvyr y Llwythau Cymreig yn cynwys Taflenau Achol o'r Pum Llwyth Breninol a Phymtheg Llwyth Gwynedd ynghyd a Byrdraith hanesiol am Sylfaenwyr yr amrywiol Lwythau a Gwroniaid Cymreig eraill Eu Preswylfeydd, Tiriogaethau, Paisarfau a Disgynyddion. Casgledig gan Ebenezer Thomas, Clynnog, Hâf 1843.' At the beginning of the volume are 'A Map of North Wales' [Anglesey and West Caernarvonshire] and a list of the contents to p. 69. More than half of the volume is blank but the written pages after p. 69 contain, among other things, details of 'Villas [Vills] in Eifionydd' ('Abridged from a letter of the Rev. J. Jones Llanllyfni to Ellis Owen Esq. Cefny meusydd'), pedigrees of Rhwngyddwyryd (Dolbenmaen), Rhiw and Bodfel (Llŷn), and Cefn Coch in Anglesey, etc., 'Carol Nadolig, 1859 - ar "Diolch i Ti yr Hollalluog Dduw &c"' by E. Thos ('Eben Fardd'), a petition (draft), undated, from Jane Jones of Penarfynydd in the parish of Abererch, Caernarvonshire to the bishop of Bangor and the other trustees of the Llandwrog Almshouses, particulars of the ancestry of Tho[ma]s E. Roberts, Hendre, Abereirch sent by him to Eben Fardd, 24 July 1861, and a printed prospectus, undated, of 'The Works of the Bards of Llyn and Eifionydd, collected by Myrddin Fardd'. Loose between pp. 27 and 28 are notes by J. Jones, Llanllyfni, May 1844, headed 'A. D. 1352. Hanes ardrethol Cwmmwd Isgorfai', and pasted on to these or vice versa is a printed sheet concerning Gwydir Chapel, Llanrwst (J. Jones, Printer, Llanrwst). Facing the title-page of the volume is a label bearing the words 'Llyfr Achau ac Arfbeisiau y 5 Llwyth Breninol a 15 Llwyth Pendefigol Gwynedd ynghyd au Disgynyddion, &c.' and above it John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') has written 'Costiodd y Llyfr yma i mi ddwy bunt heblaw talu am ei rwymo wedi hyny.'

A notebook labelled 'Mannoethwy' containing a few miscellaneous press cuttings followed by material relating to Owen Jones ('Manoethwy'; 1838-66), brother of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), including a biographical account described as being 'Allan O'r Geiriadur Bywgraffyddol, gan y Parch. O[wen] J[ones] Llandudno' and 'englynion' by Ellis Owen, Cefnymeusydd and J. H. Griffith, Gorseddau, ger Tremadog (press cutting). The hand is probably that of 'Myrddin Fardd'.

A few loose sheets in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') containing material to be found in Enwau Lleoedd Sir Gaernarfon: eu hystyr a'u hanes (Caernarfon, 1913) and Enwogion Sir Gaernarfon (Caernarfon, 1922). There is also a printed order form for Enwogion Sir Gaernarfon, issued while 'Myrddin Fardd' was still alive.

Miscellaneous papers of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), the items in his hand including an undated note written to a Mr Thomas (meaning of the word 'sinach'), a short memorandum relating to Llangybi almshouses, and a few biographical notes and copies of memorial inscriptions; the other items include an incomplete essay by 'Craffwr', dated 10 January 1819, which appears to be a reply in a religious controversy which referred to the use of titles of respect and to biblical criticism; an essay entitled 'Hanes neu fywgraffiad yr Apostol Paul' by 'Clement', (described as) one of the subjects of a competitive meeting held at Capel Helyg and Pencoed, 12 May 1859; adjudications by [Thomas Essile Davies] 'Dewi Wyn o Esyllt' on poetical compositions, dated 23 July 1860; adjudications, by Ellis Roberts ('Elis Wyn' [o Wyrfai]) and John Emlyn Jones, on an essay competition on 'Chwarelwyr Cymru', dated 23 March 1872; an adjudication, undated, on a competition for a guide book to Pwllheli and district; a short essay entitled 'Traethawd ar Fyrdra Oes Dyn' by 'Columbus'; a few notes relating to Bodvel [Caernarfonshire]; a note, with quotations in Greek, Latin and English, to illustrate that Virgil adopted the thoughts, and often expressed them in the same manner as, 'his illustrious predecessor' i.e. Theocritus; an undated note in pencil from [William Henry Roberts] 'Iseifion' to J. A notebook containing extracts transcribed by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') from S[imon] T[homas], Hanes y Byd a'r Amseroedd (Llundain, 1721), followed by press cuttings on the subject of plagiarism, etc., with references to a controversy which arose at Eisteddfod Gadeiriol Môn, Porthaethwy (Menai Bridge) in 1873. Individuals mentioned in the cuttings include [John Owen Griffith] 'Ioan Arfon' and [John James Hughes] 'Alfardd'.

A scrap book compiled by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') containing manuscript notes and press cuttings on Welsh orthography, the significance of the poetry of mediaeval Welsh bards, etc. ('Orgraff', 'Geiriau', 'Yr Iaith yn Newid', 'Gweithiau y Beirdd', 'Canu Clod eu Noddwyr', etc.).

A scrap-book belonging to John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') containing notes and press cuttings relating to churches and parishes, etc. in Llŷn and Eifionydd, Caernarvonshire, with a few references to places outside that area, e.g. Abergwili, Carmarthenshire and Brongwyn, Cardiganshire. At the reverse end are copies of memorial inscriptions, a note on 'Ffordd Maughan', transcripts of two letters, 1860, from [Ebenezer Thomas], 'Eben Vardd', Clynnog to Mr John Roberts [?Sion Lleyn], and brief notes on mansions in Llŷn and Eifionydd, etc. Letter (?) A volume of poetry, chiefly in strict metre, written largely in the autograph of Owen Gruffydd (?1638-1730) between 1677 and 1692. Most of the poems are by Owen Gruffydd, but the following poets are also represented: Robin Ddu, Dafydd Gorllech, John Roger, Sion Phylip, Sypyn Cyfeiliog, Dafydd ap Gwilym, William Phylip, Gyttyn Owain ('medd rhai' 'Meredydd ap Rhys' in another hand), Ifan Tew Prydydd, Huw ab Iva[n], Bedo Brwynllysg, Edmwnt Prys, Edward Morys, Matthew Owen and Hugh Morys. There is a list of contents at the beginning and the poems have been correspondingly numbered. There are 'penillion' by William Elias on p. 309b. John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') has supplied a lacuna in the manuscript from Peniarth MS 124. Almost all the 'cywyddau' in this manuscript, but not the 'englynion' and the poems in free metre, are to be found also in Peniarth MS 124, which is later in date than the present manuscript and written in a different hand. The pages have been numbered by Dr J. Gwenogvryn Evans and his report on the manuscript is in J. Gwenogvryn Evans MS 70a (under 'M[yrddin] F[ardd] 5'). If the information given on pp. 1 and 50 is correct, Owen Gruffydd was born in 1638. A note at the end (p. 238) of his elegy to Sir Roger Mostyn (d. 1690) states that the poet received fifty shillings for the 'cywydd'. There is a folio missing after p. 36 and another is wanting before p. 53.

Pedigrees (54 pp.) of various families in Caernarvonshire (Llŷn and Eifionydd), Montgomery, Merioneth, Denbigh and Anglesey, etc. transcribed by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') from an unnamed source or sources, possibly early eighteenth century. The first page is marked 'Copy No. 28'. A loose press cutting in the volume contains a carol ('Carol Newydd') by [Gruffydd Roberts] 'Gyttyn Lleyn'.

A composite volume compiled by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') containing press cuttings, pedigrees (transcribed in part from manuscripts of Owen Griffith, Llanystumdwy, Ebenezer Thomas, ('Eben Fardd') and Ellis Owen, Pant Phylip, Llangelynin), and miscellaneous papers, including pedigrees in various hands and letters, some pasted in or inset, others loose. The correspondents include Owen Evans, Broom Hall, 1875, R. O. Williams, Bangor, 1846 (copy), Edw. H. Owen, Ty Coch, [18]93 and 1896, and Jno. E. Griffith, Bangor, [19]10. There is material, chiefly press cuttings, concerning Richard Lloyd Edwards, Nanhoron, Rowland Jones, Broom Hall (also known as Rowland Jones, Weirglodd Fawr) and his father, Rowland Jones the philologist, Sir Love Jones Parry, Madryn, and others. One or two items in the volume appear to be in the autograph of Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd') and the loose papers include a pedigree of Ucheldref, Gwyddelwern in an early eighteenth century hand (damaged). Another pedigree headed 'Llannerch fawr' is dated 'Machynlleth Feb. 1861' and is connected with the Reverend John Evans (1815-91), afterwards archdeacon of Merioneth (?transcript), and the volume also contains one or two notes in the autograph of Jonathan Jones, Caernarvon. Letter 'U' on spine.

A composite volume belonging to John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') containing notes and press cuttings concerning heraldry, etc. At the beginning in another hand are accounts of 'Gibbet Hill' [Llanfair Caereinion] subscribed 'Mrs B- December 12. 59', 'Sion y Clochydd' and 'Bryn Llawenydd'. The press cuttings include a series of articles on 'Pymtheg Llwyth Gwynedd' by [the Reverend Hugh Parry] 'Cefni'. There are one or two loose items, including a sheet in an eighteenth century hand containing 'Naw gradd Carrennydd' and two 'englynion', etc., 'Awgrym fûd' (a deaf and dumb alphabet), and 'Llyma y pum achos sydd i gadw acha[u].'
