Letters from servicemen, 1915-1919, comprising letters, postcards and Christmas cards from Aberystwyth men serving in the First World War thanking Sergeant Major Fear, the local Comforts Fund and the people of Aberystwyth for the parcels and cards received by them abroad. Letters were received by Sergeant Major Fear from various fronts, including those in both Western and Eastern Europe, Palestine and Mesopotamia. Although predominantly letters of thanks, some provide valuable information with regard to local servicemen and on conditions within the trenches. Some letters contain detailed descriptions of the fighting, the weather and of life in general on the front line. The letters also include poems written by soldiers recounting their experiences. Particularly detailed letters are referred to in the descriptions at file level.

Correspondence, papers and printed items, 1981-1993, relating to the Congregationalist Memorial College (Y Coleg Coffa). They include correspondence and papers relating to the attempts to unite Y Coleg Coffa and Coleg Bala-Bangor at Aberystwyth between 1981 and 1989. They also include the College's annual reports and accounts, financial papers, papers deriving from the proceedings of the committee set up to decide the location of a united college, and statistics relating to the attendance at the colleges. The correspondents include Elfed ap Nefydd Roberts, 1983, Dewi Eirug Davies, 1985, Gwynfor Evans (8), 1984-1989, and Derwyn Morris Jones (2), 1984-1989.

Letter relating to a performance by Jen Wilson at the Cooper's Arms, Aberystwyth, 5 March 1987. Although not specified, the letter implies that the performance may have been multi-media or have at least involved the spoken word.

A commonplace book of Aberystwyth provenance attributed by J. H. Davies to his grandfather Robert Davies (1789-1841). It is written in more than one hand and consists largely of maxims and aphorisms of a religious nature, prayers and, especially, abstracts of sermons preached at Calvinistic Methodist Association and other meetings at Aberystwyth, 1825-7 and undated. Watermark: 1814.

Two manuscript drafts and a typescript draft of ‘Real Aberystwyth’ with manuscript and typescript annotations by Niall Griffiths and the publisher, and related letters and email correspondence between them concerning the writing and production of the book, as well as correspondence between Niall Griffiths and the predominantly literary contacts whom he consulted about the content of the book, together with other material accumulated during the writing of the book and relating to people, places, events, activities, issues and phenomena in Aberystwyth and the surrounding area as well as the ‘Real Aberystwyth’ project itself, comprising manuscript and typescript notes by Niall Griffiths, typescript copies and photocopies of poems (notably ‘One, Rheidol Place’, ‘Symbols’ and ‘River Moods’ by Herbert Williams, ‘An Aberystwyth Canto’ by Matthew Jarvis, ‘Nietzscheanism and the meaning of the superman’ and ‘Aberystwyth short fiction’ by Tiffany Atkinson, and ‘The Buoy’ by Gwyneth Lewis), typescript copies of articles (including ‘“In a very deranged state”: notes on the Iolo Morganwg Project’ by Mary-Ann Constantine, ‘The English in Wales: an Englishman’s view’ and ‘Flag waving’ by Simon Rodway, ‘Crud cenedlaetholdeb Cymreig’ [‘A cradle of Welsh nationalism’] by Rhys Jones and Carwyn Fowler, and ‘Teithio yn y nos / Nachtreise’ by Patricia Duncker), photographs taken by Niall Griffiths (in labelled envelopes which have since become jumbled), printouts from websites, press cuttings and tourist information literature. Also included, bound in a volume with a draft of ‘Real Aberystwyth’, is a manuscript draft of ‘Real Liverpool’ with manuscript notes by Niall Griffiths and an outline proposal by him for the book, together with a copy of related email correspondence between him and the publisher.

The series comprises academic notes made by O. M. Edwards while a student at Bala, Aberystwyth, Glasgow and Oxford, and lecture notes prepared whilst a tutor and fellow at Oxford. They cover a wide range of academic subjects, among them history, English and philosophy. There are also a few sermon and scriptural notes and details of Edwards's financial transactions.
