Visual Arts Department papers

Papers relating to the visual arts in Wales, including papers relating to exhibitions serviced by Welsh Arts Council and Oriel gallery exhibitions, 1967-1998; biographical files compiled by the division relating to deceased artists and artists living outside Wales, 1941-2002; and papers relating to client galleries in Wales, [early 1960s]-1995.

The Final Proof project

Correspondence and papers relating to WAC's project to promote the greater understanding of prints and printmaking, 1980-1984, by commissioning eight artists, namely Ken Bryce, Anthony Davies, Ian Grainger, Harry Holland, Gareth John Jones, Alan Lumsden, John Macfarlane and Frances Woodley, to produce original prints. These prints were marketed by WAC in collaboration with a commercial publishing house, Felix Rosenstiel's Widow and Son, Ltd. The prints then formed part of a touring exhibition, together with a variety of other prints produced by artists living or working in Wales. Included are letters relating to the administration of the project, including letters from the artists and Felix Rosenstiel's Widow and Son, Ltd.

Earth, Air and Water competition

Correspondence, papers and photographs relating to the competition for craftsmen, designers and artists of Welsh origin or residence to celebrate the Welsh landscape, 1975. The competition was arranged by the National Eisteddfod and the Welsh Arts Council.

Celtic Sea V exhibition

Papers relating to the Celtic Sea competition which was organised by the National Eisteddfod of Wales, the Arts Council of Ireland and the Welsh Arts Council, 1986-1987. The maquettes resulting from the project did not tour in Wales and Ireland.
