One typed and two photo-copies of preface to Bangor Diocesan Festival Book / Llyfr Gwyliau Corawl Esgobaeth Bangor by S. J. Evans, chairman of Bangor Diocesan Music Committee and editor of hymnal, 15 Oct. 1930 [For Welsh preface see no 272, and see also nos 132 and 198-200].

Part of bill sent to S. J. Evans from Dr William Simpson (Liverpool) Limited for purchase of beef, 3 March 1934. On back of bill are remarks on paintings and items of antiquarian interest.

P. Heylyn, Cyprianus Anglicus: or the History of the Life and Death of ... William [Laud] Archbishop of Canterbury (London, 1668). Added on the flyleaves in a contemporary hand is a copy of Laud's will; another contemporary hand has added some marginal notes and an index on the end flyleaves. Belonged to Lewis Davies rector 'of Lhan Dyfrydog' [18 C.] and Hugh Davies rector of Llandegfan, 1778 (see title page). Original calf binding. Tipped inside the cover is an invitation from Richard Lewis to the funeral of Mr F. Edwards, Stanstay, 8 Dec. 1824, on which is endorsed a note of the several meanings of the Welsh word gwyr.

Copy-book relating to mathematical and navigational topics including arithmetical rules, sun's degrees of declination and altitude, measures used in various trades, land surveying, geometrical problems, trigonometry, compass reading, detailed drawings of various subjects, decorated tables and diagrams of the planets and zodiac signs. 166ff., used first during 1782-85 by John Evans, parish of Llanychaearn, Cardigan, and later during 1816-24 by John Evans, [1796-1861, see A Dictionary of Welsh Bibliography]. Pamphlet advertising 'E. Preston Junior's Patent Expeditious Cam-Lever Copying Press' found between ff. 124 and 125 of no. 285. [This was possibly the machine used in preparing no. 285].
