A volume entitled 'Odlau'r Aelwyd' by Thomas Jacob Thomas ('Sarnicol'), being a selection of holograph poetry in strict and free metres. The selection was made in 1944, with a view to publication.

Two volumes of holograph poems in free metres and a few 'englynion' ('Syml Gynhyrchion') composed by John Minton, J.P., Treorchy, co. Glamorgan. Each volume contains a list of contents, Welsh syntactical rules ('Cyfarwyddiadau ieithyddol'), and addresses of editors of Welsh newspapers.

A scrap album containing manuscript and printed items, newspaper cuttings, etc., described on the first page as 'Casgliad amrywiol o eiddo Ionawryn Williams [see the preceding manuscript] yn cynnwys engreifftiau o'i ddiddordeb a'i weithgarwch. Ceir ynddo hefyd nodiadau ychwanegol ar rai o Gymry Manceinion . . .' The manuscript material includes a copy of an anonymous election manifesto addressed to the [Manchester] Welsh, denouncing the previous Conservative administration and advocating the return of Messrs. Jacob Bright and John Slagg as [Liberal] members for the city [of Manchester] [?1880]; a holograph letter from Joseph Parry, University College, Cardiff, to Mr. [Ionawryn] Williams, 1899 (reference to the writer's fifth opera King Arthur); a holograph postcard from Owen M[organ] Edwards, Oxford, to Mr. [Ionawryn] Williams, 1898 (acknowledging the receipt of 'englynion' and hymns); poems addressed to Ionawryn Williams at Bethesda [co. Caernarvon] (1900); miscellaneous other poems; a few biographical notes on Manchester Welshmen; etc. The printed items include copies of a prospectus (with order form attached) advertising Ionawryn Williams's forthcoming volume of biographies of Manchester Welshmen [see the preceding manuscript]; a handbill announcing 'A Liberal demonstration of the north east and south east divisions of the county of Lancaster' to be held at Manchester, 24 and 25 October 1879; the rules (with balance sheet and list of members and officials) of the Manchester Welsh National Society (1894-1895); the programme of the same society's activities for the session 1895-1896; menus and programmes in connection with St. David's day celebration dinners in Manchester (1891 and undated); the programme (with rules and list of officials) of the Booth Street East Young People's Literary Society for the session 1869-1870; a commemorative article on Ellis Roberts of Manchester by Ionawryn Williams (extracted from Y Cronicl, July 1893), and a similar article on Ionawryn Williams himself (extracted from Y Cronicl, October 1907). The newspaper cuttings, which form the largest class of insets, are of a varied nature. Most refer to persons and events connected with the Manchester and Salford area from the 1860's to the early twentieth century. They include, inter alia, obituary notices of Welshmen who had some connection with Manchester (e.g., Sir William Roberts, physician, ob. 1899, Professor Thomas Jones, surgeon, ob. in South Africa, 1900), Manchester news items of Welsh interest (e.g., St. David's day celebrations, meetings of Welsh societies, a meeting in connection with Welsh disestablishment in 1883), poems by Ionawryn Williams, and other miscellaneous verse.

A collection of exercise and notebooks, and a few loose leaves, containing poems, prose compositions, and miscellaneous memoranda [by, and in the hand of, Isaac Jones, Diserth, co. Flint]. The literary compositions, most of which are in draft form, include 'pryddestau' entitled 'Abel', 'Cartref' [for versions of these two poems, see also N.L.W. MS. 12625B], 'Y Bibl', and 'Deborah' (1872 ); 'englynion' headed 'i'r Fronwen', 'i'r Hen Lanc' (1864), 'i'r Tobacco' ( 1871), 'i'r Talegraph' [sic] (1871), 'i Fryn Gwenallt, Abergele' (1872), 'Peiriant Dyrnu' (1875), and 'Y Lloer'; miscellaneous poems called 'Cartref Cysurus', 'Sadrach, Mesach, ac Abednego' (1873), 'Mynydd yr Olwydd' (1874 ), 'Pulpud bach y teulu' (1874), 'Dyfodiad dwfr Llanefydd i Abergele' (1874), and 'Y Bwriad'; essays, or the texts of papers or addresses, on 'Golwg ar ddifyrwch y bobl yn Nghymru yn yr oes hon ar oes or blaen . . .' ( 1878), 'Gwasanaeth yr emyn' (1905), 'Gwneyd Cyfrif' (1925), 'Y Bardd a'r diwynydd' (fragment), 'Dyledswydd yr athraw i fod yn ffyddlawn tuag at yr ysgol Sabbothol', 'Darbodaeth', 'Gwyrthiau', 'Y Pwysigrwydd o iawn ddefnyddio oriau hamddenol', and 'Dringo'r mynyddoedd'; and a moral tale ('ffugchwedl ddirwestol') entitled 'Y Graith hynod, neu y ddau gymeriad'. Many of these poems and essays were composed for submission in competitions at local eisteddfodau or literary meetings. Other items include adjudications on 'telynegion' submitted for competition at a literary meeting held at Dyserth, February 1920, and in an essay competition for an essay on 'Taith Israel o'r Aipht hyd Sinai'; a copy of an announcement of a literary and musical meeting to be held at the Calvinistic Methodist chapel, Llysfaen, 2 November 1876; a report on Sunday schools [held in connection with Calvinistic Methodist churches] in the Denbigh district (n.d.); a list of preachers who preached ? in the Calvinistic Methodist chapel, Dyserth, 1917-1922; a list of preaching engagements, ? undertaken by Isaac Jones, 1893-1925, with the texts preached upon; sermon notes; and accounts, 1876-1877,? of the Calvinistic Methodist Church, Colwyn.

Papers of John Jones (Ivon), Aberystwyth, 1837-1900, including twenty-five letters addressed to him, 1864-1893, mainly containing social and personal news with some political and other matters.

Also included are autograph verses by Robert Parry (Robin Ddu Eryri), 1887 (f. 50), Rowland Williams (Hwfa Môn), 1900 (ff. 63-64), and G. Pennar Griffiths (Penar), 1900 (f. 65), and three membership cards, 1837-1868.

A volume containing poetry, mostly in Welsh, by William Edwards ('Cynlaisfab', d. 1920s), Glantawe, Ystradgynlais, co. Brecon, and afterwards of Blaengwynfi, co. Glamorgan, composed 1869-1920 and including poems entered for competition at local eisteddfodau. An index to the poems is included on the front and back covers and end-papers.

A scrap-book compiled by Laura Pughe (née Parry, 'Meillionen Gwynedd', 1835-1936), Helygog, Brithdir, co. Merioneth, containing poetry, 1856-1936, addressed to herself, her husband Robert Pughe (d. 1882), and their family, including poetry by Morris Davies ('Meurig Ebrill'), Howell Elvet Lewis ('Elfed') and John Owen Williams ('Pedrog'), together with press cuttings and other related items.

A typescript draft, with manuscript corrections and additions, of an address, dated August 1916, on the history of Mynydd-bach Congregational church, Swansea, author unknown, and including verses by Daniel James (Gwyrosydd) entitled 'Fy Mynyddbach'.

Notebook, 1914-1916, kept by Nursing Sergeant Davies of 'C' section of the 130th (St John) Field Ambulance unit, attached to the 38th (Welsh) Division of the British Army. It includes a diary, November 1914-June 1916 (ff. 1-12), describing duties in Britain before embarkation for France on 3 December 1915, and subsequent activities on the Western Front prior to the Battle of Mametz Wood.
A draft application for an army commission (ff. 45, 46 verso) suggests that Sergeant Davies was a native of Carmarthenshire and a former miner. The notebook also contains medicinal recipes (ff. 13-14, 44 verso, 45-6), ration tables (ff. 8 verso-9, 14), and poetry in both English and Welsh (ff. 22 verso-23, 31-44, 49-53). An additional folio, tipped into the volume (f. 16a), contains further diary entries, October 1916, and suggests the existence of a second volume, subsequently lost.

A scrapbook, compiled by J. W. Jones, Blaenau Ffestiniog, and unbound leaves containing holographs, transcripts, and press cuttings of poetry in free and strict metres, 1893-1903 and 1918?, by William (Gwilym) Morgan, quarryman, of Blaenau Ffestiniog, together with adjudications by [Sir] J[ohn] Morris Jones (press cuttings), [Howell Elvet Lewis] ('Elfed') (transcript), etc. MS. 11064 also contains testimonials, 1901, to William Morgan and Mrs Morgan from Robert Roberts, J. P., surgeon, Blaenau Ffestiniog, the Reverend W[illiam] P[ari] Hughes, Dolgellau, and Wm. Davies, Junior, Managing Partner, The Diphwys Casson Slate Quarries Company, Blaenau Ffestiniog, the first (and presumably the other two) in support of their candidature for the posts of master and matron of Pwllheli Workhouse; and a holograph letter, 1936, from [Humphrey Jones] ('Bryfdir'), Rhiwbryfdir, to [J. W. Jones], enclosing copies of 'in memoriam' verses to Gwilym Morgan. Included in MS. 11065 is a holograph letter, 1899, from Robert Roberts, Blaenau Ffestiniog, to Gwilym Morgan, with observations on 'englynion' in English by the recipient.
