Buchedd Collen, &c.

A manuscript in the hand of Moses Williams containing 'Buchedd Collen' (pp. 25-31), 'Hanes Taliesin' (pp. 33-44), 'Keyryd' (p. 77), transcripts from the Black Book of Carmarthen (pp. 1-20, 98-118) and the Book of Taliesin (pp. 79-97), triads taken from 'Y Cwta Cyfarwydd' (p. 45 (see Peniarth MS 50, p. 149)) and from the work of John Jones, Gellilyfdy (p. 62) and other material, some of which relates to Welsh geographical features (pp. 32 (taken from the work of John Jones, Gellilyfdy), 75-76, 121). P. i contains an index of the contents.

A manuscript containing a chronology, mainly of kings and rulers of Wales (pp. 1, 33-37, 43-48, 49-60, 100, 111-113); arms, mainly of kings and rulers of Wales (pp. 2-8, 9, 99); pedigrees, mainly of kings and rulers of Wales and England (pp. 9b-88, 89-98, 224-152, 155-158, 164-186, 188); and poetry, which includes triads (pp. 38-42, 100-110, 159-163, 187, 190).
The folios of different manuscripts, or of one manuscript written by different hands at different times, have been mixed together in binding.

Copies made from the Red Book of Hergest by David Parry in 1697 (see f. 202), written mostly on one side only. A note on p. 221 states that 'Ieuan ap William ap dd: ap ejnws ajysgrivenodd yllyvr hwn i gyd ari gost ihvn i gael o bobyl ddifyrwch o hono alles yw heneidiav o hwn'; there are, however, a few pages (pp. 139-142, etc.) in other hands. There is a table of contents at the beginning in the hand of Richard Morris, 1784-1785, and another at the end by ?William Jones, who states that the manuscript was 'procured me by Mr. Holmes of the Tower'.
The dates appended to many of the subjects in the text show that the binder is responsible for the present derangement of the folios.

A manuscript written c. 1634 (see p. 165) containing pedigrees (pp. 164-166, 189-215, 217-243); Bonedd y Saint (pp. 87, 216); 'Dosbarth Arveu' (pp. 167-188); proverbs (pp. 160-162); triads (pp. 259-260); 'Cantrevyd a chymydeu Cymru' (pp. 244-245); medical recipes (pp. 249-258); &c.
The manuscript is in the same hand as Llanstephan MSS 122-125 and may be that of John Pryce, rector of Mellteyrn (see p. 103).

Poetry,

A manuscript in the hands of the Reverend Samuel Williams, Moses Williams, Iaco ab Dewi and others, containing one hundred and sixty-eight numbered items, mainly poetry, including about two hundred and thirty-five triads (item 13). The poets cited include Taliesin, Bleddyn Fardd, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Siôn Cent and Siôn Phylip. Item 165 contains a genealogy of Welsh saints. Item 166 is a copy of cols 1165-1169 of the Red Book of Hergest. Item 167, which contains englynion, is in the hand of Edward Lhuyd, and was 'sent through the post to W. Baxter in Totnham Highcross near London'. Item 168 is a piece entitled 'A true Character ... of the Gentry within the Counties of Carmarthen, Pembroke and Cardigan during the Commonwealth'.

A manuscript containing poetry of Taliesin, Dafydd Ddu Hiraddug, Sion Tudur, Gruffudd ab yr Ynad Coch and others (pp. 1-52); the Twenty-four Feats (pp. 53-55); triads of the court of Arthur (pp. 56-57); carols (pp. 65-79); proverbs collected by Gruffudd Hiraethog (pp. 81-126); prayers (pp. 127-136); etc.
At p. 8 three triplets are written in the margin. For the estimated date of the manuscript see pp. 80, 132. The text at p. 127 differs greatly from that in the Book of Taliesin (see Peniarth MS 2).

A manuscript written c. 1556 (see p. 184) containing triads (pp. 1-6); theological tracts (pp. 7-8, 26-42, 142-146, 152, 154, 167); a calendar (pp. 43-64); poetry (pp. 9-25, 65-141, 147, 149); etc. The poets cited include Taliesin, Iolo Goch, Siôn Cent and Dafydd Gorlech.
