A notebook in the hand of J. H. Davies, 21 October 1891, containing notes of lectures by O. M. Edwards [at Lincoln College, Oxford] on constitutional history. Beginning at the end is a home-made thumb-nail glossary by J. H. Davies partly of words in the poetry of Tudur Aled and partly of Welsh ballads recorded under authors' surnames or first lines.

Miscellaneous notes,

A small notebook which belonged to J. H. Davies containing bibliographical references to the Reverend Peter Williams, mainly from William Rowlands (Gwilym Lleyn) (ed. D. Silvan Evans), Llyfryddiaeth y Cymry (Llanidloes, 1869), together with a few biographical notes. At the reverse end of the volume are a few notes relating to (?) Cardiganshire Highways Committee and some observations on Sir Owen M. Edwards, perhaps for an article or an address.

Major Edgar Jones,

Stray items relating to Major Edgar Jones (1868-1953), father of Gareth Vaughan Jones, and headmaster of the Barry Boys' County School from 1899 until his retirement in 1933. They include a small quantity of correspondence on a wide range of subjects, including letters from Gwilym Davies, undated; Sir Owen M. Edwards, 1916; W. Goscombe John, 1952; Dr Thomas Jones CH, 1925, 1947, 1950, 1951 and 1952 (many referring to the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth); and Sir John Edward Lloyd, 1929 (relating to the Welsh Language Society). Many of the letters refer to educational themes. There are also two letters, both dated 1953, from Major Edgar Jones to his daughter Eirian Lewis, mother of Dr Siriol Colley. There are also some tributes to Major Jones upon his death in 1953.

The file comprises an album kept by O. M. Edwards while he was an undergraduate student at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. It contains a large number of autographs, poems and cuttings, various notes, and several letters addressed to Edwards. The correspondents include J. Mortimer Angus, Lewis Edwards, Y Bala, Thomas Charles Edwards (2), Ellis Jones Ellis-Griffith, John Edward Lloyd and John H. Puleston. There is also a stray letter written by O. M. Edwards.
