Papers, 1825-1912, of, or acquired by, the painter Henry Clarence Whaite, including correspondence, bills and vouchers, press cuttings, exhibition catalogues and related printed material, reflecting his work as an artist and as President of both the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts and the Royal Cambrian Academy; together with papers, 1825-1862, of the Whaite family of Manchester, and papers, 1873-1913, of the artist's daughter, Lily Whaite, a member of the Gwynedd Ladies' Art Society.

Twenty-six letters to H. Clarence Whaite from Frederick Alfred Slocombe, and his nephew Shirley Slocombe. These remain uncatalogued.

A collection of additional letters, 1900-1904, to Lily Whaite from her future husband, John Harris, Vicar of Harlech. This group remains uncatalogued.

The series consists of a group of miscellaneous papers relating to, or collected by Lily Whaite, 1880-1913, including school reports, notes for schoolwork, poetry, invitations to various functions, school notes relating to the Eisteddfod, and an almanac for noting the names of persons to whom she had written, together with a small number of notebooks containing autograph sermon notes by the Reverend John Harries.
