A manuscript volume bearing the words 'MABINOGI PWYLL' in gold lettering on the spine. The volume, which is written throughout by William Owen [-Pughe], contains transcripts, probably from 'Llyfr Coch Hergest', and English translations of 'Pwyll Pendefig Dyfed' (pp. 11-79), 'Branwen ferch Llyr'(pp. 80-1153), and 'Manawydan fab Llyr' (pp. 154-217), with the beginning only of 'Math fab Mathonwy' (pp. 218-23). Among miscellaneous entries at the end of the volume are: p. 224, a list of the descendants of Morien Glas; p. 226, couplets from the works of Guto y Glyn, Mathew Brwmfild, and Rhys Penarth; pp. 227-8, a synopsis of the tale of 'Branwen ferch Llyr'; p. 232, 'Names among the Lakes of Cumberland Westmoreland and Lancashire - Wordsworth's Scenery'; and inside the back cover the note: 'Cyrhaeddwn dy y P. W. Coxe, Bemerton, D. Llun, July 26, 11802, gan gerdded D. Sul o Southampton i Gaer Sallawg i gysgu'.

A composite volume, the contents being: ff. 1 recto-26 verso , 'Llyfr Barddoniaeth. sef y Gelfyddyd o ganu Cerdd Dafawd yn dda. O waith Gwilym Ganoldref. O Wynedd', i.e. William Midleton (the transcript, which is in the hand of 'Iolo Morganwg', is said on f. 25 verso to be copied 'o Lyfr Ieuan Tir Iarll, sef Sion Bradford', and appears to be similar to that found in NLW MS 13096B (Llanover C. 9.), pp. 201-35; there are references to the text published in Dafydd Lewys, Flores Poetarum Britannicorum . . . (Mwythig, 1710), pp. 59-80, on ff- 3 recto and 7 recto; 'Iolo Morganwg' dates his 'Rhagysbysiad' on f. 2 recto as follows: 'Trefflemin ym Morganwg Chwefror yr ail, 1806', and a note on f. 1 recto, 'For Mr. Wm. Owen', suggests that the text was to be sent to William Owen [-Pughe]; for confirmation see NLW MS 13221E, pp. 139 & 143, and also NLW MS 21282E, no. 370; ff. 27 recto-59 verso, & 62 recto-verso, 'Llyma Gadwedigaeth Cerz Davawd This is the Institute of the science of Language', being Welsh and English versions of a bardic grammar in the hand of William Owen [-Pughe]; f. 60 recto- verso, a transcript of a 'Toddaid Taliesin' with notes by 'Iolo Morganwg'; f. 61 recto-verso, 'Cywydd i Syr Walter Vicar Brynbuga ag i'r chware Miragl a wnaeth ef yno', attributed to Meredydd ap Rhosser, beginning 'Pwy'n Athro call wrth Allawr . . .', in the hand of 'Iolo Morganwg', who claims to have copied it from 'Llyfr Mr. Lewys o Ben Min'; ff. 63 recto-66 recto, vocabularies; f. 67 recto, memoranda by William Owen [-Pughe] dated 1807; and f. 68 recto, printed proposals for printing Dosparth neu Gramadeg yr laith Gymraeg . . . o Gasgliad R[obert] D[avies] o Nantglyn. As marginalia or on blank pages, etc., and generally in a later hand than the text of the poems, are various inscribed names (see note below) and memoranda, including a copy of a note signed by Edward David, Evenechtyd.

Fifty-three files of unbound material accumulated by Bradney during the preparation of A History of Monmouthshire and containing press and proof copies, transcripts and abstracts of, and extracts from, manuscripts, deeds and documents, holograph and autograph letters, pedigrees and genealogical notes, press cuttings, etc., generally arranged under parishes. Much of the material is in the autographs of friends and official copyists. This volume contains letters, 1909; manuscript and typescript extracts from the parish registers of Aberystruth, 1696-1779, Llantarnam, 1725-1726, Llanfrechfa, 1725-1777, Panteg, 1736-1756, Bedwellty, 1813, Llanvillo (Brecknockshire), 1710-1873, and Llangors (Brecknockshire), 1755-1907; 'cywyddau' of Monmouthshire interest by Hywel Dafydd, Meurig Dafydd and Sion Mawddwy, transcribed by T[homas] C[hristopher] Evans ('Cadrawd') and Lemuel [John Hopkin James], Ystrad Mynach; and a list of poems by Dafydd Benwyn, with their first lines, in the autograph of 'Cadrawd'.

A manuscript containing poetry of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries and including the works of Gruffydd Gryg, Guto'r Glyn, Tudur Aled, Siôn Phylip and others, some of the cited works being incomplete.
The manuscript is written in two hands: pp. 1-164 were written c. 1630, while pp. 169-258 were written towards the end of the sixteenth century. On p. 1 there is a table of contents in the hand of Lewis Morris.

A manuscript written c. 1727 (see p. 216) containing poetry of Dafydd ap Gwilym, Edmwnd Prys, Guto'r Glyn, Siôn Phylip and others; and articles of agreement between Richard Mytton, Esq. and his tenants in the lordship of Mawddwy, drawn up at Shrewsbury on the 11th of September 1597 in the presence of T. Owen and W. Leighton, chief justice of North Wales.

A manuscript containing poetry (pp. 3-10, 54-179, 181-362), the poets cited including Iolo Goch, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Tudur Aled, Guto'r Glyn and Siôn Phylip; medical recipes taken from the texts of Meddygon Myddfai (pp. 11-16); Disgrifiad Arfau ('a Jon Trevor ai troes or Lladin ar ffrangeck yn gymraeck - August 1 . 1632' (pp. 25-53); a copy of a document relating to the boundaries of Cyfeiliog (p. 180), which bears a note at the end: 'It doeth beare date 1204 Mr. Edw: Herbert of Mountgomery had thorriginall deed in keepinge; Mr. Jenkyn gwyn and Mr. Ifan llwyd ap dd: esqrs. did copy the same per me Wythen Jones.'
The text is written in several hands, the principal hand occurring at pp. 3-10, 55-222, ?267-350, c. 1636 (see p. 219). The text was copied from a manuscript belonging to Evan Bowen of Penyrallt, Llanidloes.

The manuscript is in several hands, with a few later additions to the text. Pp. 5-15 l. 6, 77-99 l. 9, 115-122, 131-136, 161-162 are in the same hand. The manuscript is sewn into a piece of old parchment dated 1647. Poetic marginalia occur at pp. 13, 77, 81, 82, 83, 85, 87, 93, 97, 103, 131, 146, 151. The work beginning at p. 108 is in the autograph of Rhys Cain or that of his son, Siôn Cain. The work beginning at p. 112 is apparently in the autograph of Siôn Clywedog (cf. an autograph englyn by Siôn Clywedog in the margin of p. 127). The work beginning at p. 144 appears to be in the autograph of Lewys Dwnn - cf. a note in the same hand relating to the work beginning at p. 139.

A manuscript containing transcripts by David Parry from the Red Book of Hergest, together with other poetry, the volume being compiled before it was given to Jesus College, Oxford in 1701. The contents of the volume are as follows: A Welsh Grammar copied from the Red Book of Hergest (col. 1117), with collations by Samuel Williams from Llanstephan MS 3, p. 472 (original foliation I-Vb, 1-7); a copy of the poetry on cols 1143-1356 of the Red Book of Hergest (original foliation 7-12b, original pagination 13-168, 169-265); followed by sixteen leaves at the end of the manuscript containing poems by Robin Ddu o Fôn, Tudur Aled, Rhys Nanmor and others, together with the pedigree of Sir Rhys ap Thomas.
Samuel Williams has copied a good many of the older material in a modernised orthography on the side left blank by the original copyist. There are also marginalia in the hand of Moses Williams. A note, probably in the hand of Samuel Williams, on p. 265 (original pagination) reads 'All the Poetry collated March 27 . 1722'.

The text beginning at p. 39 is imperfect and the end is wanting from the texts beginning at pp. 42, 80, 116. Four leaves, more or less fragmentary, by a later hand, have been bound between pp. 82 and 83, the end wanting from the text on the last leaf of this section. At p. 112b, c is a misplaced leaf containing English poetry.

A manuscript containing an 'Important Corpus of Welsh Poetry' compiled by the Reverend Samuel Williams and Iaco ab Dewi [James Davies], with the first lines of the poems given alphabetically in an index. The volume also contains 'Histori Pren y Fuchedd', and a (non-autograph) letter from Siôn Mawddwy to Meurig Dafydd. Added at the end of the volume is a fifty-page index to the authors of the poems compiled by Richard Morris in 1747. Ff. 196-243 (containing poems numbered 632-737) are in the autograph of Iaco ab Dewi, while the remainder of the volume, excluding the end index, is in the hand of Samuel Williams.
