Seventeen letters, 1943-1980, mostly in Welsh, to Glyn Evans (or Ifans), Tregaron, mainly concerned with matters of literary interest. The majority date from the period of Evans's war service as an RAF wireless operator in Ceylon.

J. Williams, on the literary traditions of Cardiganshire (ff. 34-43); newspaper cuttings, [?1944]-[1945] (ff. 9, 23, English); and a programme for Community Hymn Singing in Cross Hands on 14 May 1944 (ff. 10-11, English).

A typescript, prepared for the press, of Iorwerth C. Peate's essay 'The Welsh House: a study in folk culture', published in Y Cymmrodor, 47 (1940).
The volume includes the title page, dedication and preface (ff. i-v), contents (f. vi), a list of illustrations (ff. vii-xxi; the illustrations are not included), the main text (ff. 1-254) and bibliography (ff. 255-275). There are some manuscript annotations and corrections, with a number of significant additions (ff. 11, 67, 154 verso, 163 verso, 179 and 249 verso). The printed version includes a few additional changes and an index. A revised edition was published in 1944.

The papers include letters, 1939-1940, from a number of authors and poets, responding to requests by Rees for their thoughts on lecture subjects such as 'Life and Literature'.

Commonplace book, 1818-[c. 1828], mainly in English with portions in French, Latin, German, Italian and Dutch. The volume contains facetious 'Resolutions for the Preservation of regularity at Shanes Castle during the meeting for the Performance of Cymbeline' by Frederick, Lord North, 1786 (pp. 1-2) (cf. NLW MS 11167B); miscellaneous poems including an apparently unpublished poem by Byron, 'On a Lock of Hair', commencing 'Swear not at all, but if thou must' (p. 13), another two of his poems (pp. 13, 24), poems by R. B. Sheridan (pp. 5, 7, 14) and a number of rhymes by 'Mr. Cowper' [?William Cowper] (pp. 3-4); a famous sermon on malt attributed to Dr John Dod (pp. 8-9); and humorous letters, epigrams, epitaphs, anagrams and charades including two composed by Charles James Fox (pp. 25, 28) and four composed by Professor [Richard] Porson (pp. 28-9, 31, 69). The answers to the anagrams and charades are in Greek orthography written in reverse.

Pedigree and coat of arms of William Lloyd of Halghton, co. Flint, esq., and his wife Jane, daughter of Ralph Broughton of Plas Isa, Is-y-coed, co. Denbigh, esq., traced from Ynyr ap Cadfarch, Gwaithfoed of Ceredigion, Gruffudd ap Cynan and Maredudd ap Bleddyn ap Cynfyn, with fifty-three other coats of arms, all painted, compiled in 1602 by Rhys Cain of Oswestry, with additions probably in a later seventeenth-century hand. Commentaries on the pedigree are written within nine cartouches, mostly ornamented.

The greater part of the manuscript was written in the seventeenth century; but there are additions and marginal notes to the nineteenth century. There is an index ('Tabl y llyfr') to ff. 1--76, in a seventeenth century hand. Between ff. 4 and 6 are inserted two leaves (pp. 129-30, 135-6) of David Jones (Trefriw) (ed.): Cydymaith Diddan (Caer Lleon [1766]).

Watkins relating to an address delivered by Henry Jones at a public meeting in Corwen (ff. 1-2); a proof copy of a printed letter, 15 August 1919, from Henry Jones to William George, [Cricieth] (ff. 3-6); a letter, 6 October 1919, from John Griffith to his son Wyn enclosing extracts of the correspondence between Griffith and Henry Jones (ff. 7-8); typescript copies of a letter, 23 March 1921, from [Dr] T[homas] J[ones] to John Griffith (f. 9) and of Griffith's reply (f. 10); and a press cutting, [?1921], from Yr Herald Cymraeg containing an article on Henry Jones (f. 11).

Photocopies of background notes in Welsh and English, lent by Rev. Emrys W. Evans to the Library in October 2009, to assist with cataloguing seven issues of a magazine entitled Cymro, produced by the Cymric Club in Stalag IVB, Muhlberg-on-Elbe, Germany, in 1943-1944, known as NLW MS 22424F. Also included are printouts of reminiscences by Gareth Prytherch, of Vancouver, Canada, a contributor to the above magazine, which were published online and information relating to Idwal Pugh who was also a prisoner of war at the same camp.

A Carmarthenshire general dealer's ledger, used also as a memorandum book by John Thomas, Cwmsydan, Llansadwrn, Carmarthenshire.

Correspondence, papers and press cuttings, 1911-1912, relating to the Welsh Nationalist League (Cyngrair Cenedlaethol Cymreig), formed at Caernarfon in January 1911 to press for Home Rule for Wales on federal lines and organised by Dr Edward Lloyd Owen ('Iorwerth Feddyg') and John Williams ('Cambrensis'), both of Cricieth. There are also a few papers relating to the St David's Order of Chivalry (Urdd Arwrol Dewi Sant), founded in 1912. The correspondence, mainly addressed to 'Cambrensis', includes letters from W.
