A manuscript in the hand of J. R. Phillips, Ab Geraint, of Cilgerran, author of Memoirs of the Civil War in Wales, and the Marches, etc., consisting of extracts and transcripts, bibliographic lists, historical accounts, etc.
Phillips's list and account of the sheriffs of Cardiganshire (pp. 139-200) was afterwards amplified and printed in 1868.

A book, 1782-1801, belonging to Owen Cadwaladr, containing poetry and notes, etc.

Notes of sermons preached by the Reverend Mathew Henry (1662-1714) and others at Chester, Salop and Broad Oak from 3 March 1697 (p. 34) and also sermons by Dr Benion at Broad Oak (p. 89); at the end of the book is a sermon by Mr Berry, 15 July 1722 'at the funeral of my dear child', the funeral sermon of Mr John Gray (p. 28) and 'Mr. Lochs funeral sermon by Dr. Bennion' (p. 37). An index to the sermons has been compiled by the Reverend John Davies, Llansamlet (1740-1821).

A journal, 1826, written by Thomas John Masleni, of a tour on foot from Carmarthen to Mold. The writer has embellished his work with fourteen rough sketches which have subsequently been coloured.

An extremely interesting manuscript - probably the smallest Welsh manuscript in existence, though it is 1.5 inches thick - which was written by Thomas Evans, Hendreforfudd, 1618-1622, and consists mostly of prayers and englynion.
Bound up between pp. 12 and 13 is a copy of an early edition of the Llyfr Plygain or Primer, dated 1618 and containing 42 pp. but imperfect as it contains none of the prayers, litany or psalms. This is probably the volume referred to by Gweirydd ap Rhys in Hanes Llenyddiaeth Gymreig, pp. 402-3; it is not mentioned in Angharad Llwyd's Catalogue of the Pengwern MSS (Transactions Cymmrodorion, 1828, p. 50).

A packet containing miscellaneous correspondence and legal papers, some of which relate to members of the Puleston family of Emral.

A volume containing genealogies of families in Glamorgan, Monmouth and other parts of Wales, pp. 1-275 having been written in 1678 (see pp. 95, 103, etc.) and pp. 276-303 in various hands of the second half of 18 cent.

A volume containing a collection, late 17 cent., of arms of Welshmen and of Englishmen connected with Wales by Francis Bassano. Also included are copies of monumental inscriptions in the parish church of Sawley, Derbyshire (p. 73) and in Clifton Church (p. 79).

A volume containing a collection, 17 & 18 cents, of coats of arms, badges and crests made by Henry Chitting, Chester Herald, together with a full index to names (pp. 5-12).

A volume, 18 cent., containing drawings of the coats of arms of about 215 Welsh families, together with indexes (pp. 69, 87).

A commonplace book containing mainly notes on ecclesiastical history in the hand of Thomas Vowler Short, student of Christ Church, Oxford, 1829, afterwards bishop successively of Sodor and Man and of St Asaph.

A volume containing a 19th century copy of the charter of North Wales granted by the King on the 3rd of March, 22 Henry VII, taken from the manuscript of the Reverend Evan Evans, curate of Llanfair Talhaiarn. The volume is labelled on the back 'Peerage Case Proceedings 1767' but does not at present contain that document.

A rental book of the estates of Lleweni and Gwisaney for 1636-1644, giving the names of the farms, the tenants and the amount of the rent in each case. The book also contains similar details for the "Gwissaney demeanes", described (p. 70) as "my master's paternall estate". A letter from Phillip Yorke of Erddig to 'Dear Bloady' has been inserted at p. 107 and a letter, dated 8 January 1651, addressed to Robert Davies of Gwisaney and signed by Hugh Thomas, Joseph Roberts and Peter Davies, has been inserted at p. 160. A loose leaf containing a summary of the Gwisaney rentals is at p. 170.

The poll book of the Denbighshire election of 1741, the two candidates being Sir Watkin Williams Wynn and John Myddelton of Chirk Castle. The book gives the names of all the voters, the freehold in respect of which they voted and their place of residence. A note (incomplete), in a different hand, has been inserted at the end of the list of voters and relates to "an illegal return" by William Myddelton, sheriff, who was consequently sent to Newgate prison; opposite this note a contemporary print has been pasted which shows the sheriff in Newgate. Two letters, dated 24th October 1739, from Sir Watkin Williams Wynn to Edward Maddocks have been inserted into the book.

A volume, late 18 cent./early 19 cent., containing a miscellaneous collection of essays, letters, notes, extracts and translations, largely relating to Welsh poetry, philology, archaeology and history, mostly written by Dr William Owen Pughe (1759-1835) and sent to George Chalmers (1742-1825), Scottish antiquary.
