A transcript, [?early 19 cent.], probably in the hand of Paul Panton, junior, of suggestions (dated 1799) by H[umphry] Repton, 'Landscape Gardner, Hare Street, near Romford, Essex', for improvements at Plas Newydd, Anglesey, a seat of the Earl of Uxbridge; a copy of the inscription on the monument of John Hough, bishop of Worcester, [18 cent., second ½]; and 'A table of the Principal Harbours ... in Europe ... Shewing their Latitude & Longitude ...', [18 cent.].

A volume containing one hundred and twenty-one letters, 1774-1791, from Thomas Falconer, classical scholar, to Paul Panton, [?]junior, Plas Gwyn (ff. 7-254), and three letters, 1774-1775, from Falconer to ... Plymley [?Joseph Plymley, Archdeacon of Salop] (ff. 1-6).
Loose in the volume (ff. 255-273) are additional papers, 1775-1810 and undated, including a letter, 1775, from Daines Barrington to Paul Panton, senior (ff. 256-257); a copy of a letter, 1809, from W. Jones, Beaumaris, and of his 'proposal' regarding the demolition of North Wales castles (ff. 267-268); notes [by Richard Fenton] for a tour 'From Llandilo by way of Swansea Neath Margam & Ewenny to Cowbridge', [1812] (f. 271); etc.

Panton papers

Manuscripts and papers, [1600x1606]-1822, from the collections of Paul Panton at Plas Gwyn, Anglesey. They comprise correspondence of both the elder and younger Paul Panton, containing antiquarian, political and legal material, including matters relating to both Pantons' Flintshire interests in lead mines, colliery undertakings, navigation of the River Dee, railways, smelting works, etc., and matters relating to public responsibilities such as building works, schools and coastal security, mainly in Anglesey; papers relating to the Panton family and their estate and to Plas Gwyn estate; further material relating mainly to Anglesey and Flintshire, such as pedigrees, histories, charters and documents regarding land tenure and other legal matters, some of which is in the hand of William Williams, antiquary, of Beaumaris; manuscripts of or relating to antiquarian and literary figures such as Robert Vaughan, Hengwrt, Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd), Thomas Pennant and Richard Fenton; other legal papers, including Anglesey crown pleas, a volume of legal precedents and a dictionary of law terms; etc.
