Papers, [1822]-1953, of John Rhŷs, comprising a considerable group of letters to him, 1860-1915, including those from fellow researchers, friends and family; material, 1864-1919, relating to his published works, including manuscript drafts of books, articles, and addresses; and research notes, 1836-[1920x1945]. There are also personal and professional papers, [1822]-1953, belonging to, and accumulated by, John Rhŷs; and papers, 1862-[1947], relating to various family members, among them a substantial body of material accumulated by Myvanwy Rhys for a proposed biography of her father.

Diaries,

Engagement diaries, 1862-1915 (with gaps), belonging to John Rhŷs, together with a journal of a visit to St Jean de Luz, 1893-1894. Most contain brief, often occasional, entries recording meetings, tours, domestic and personal matters, accounts, and other notes and observations. Also included are accounts, exemplars of German phrases, lists of various places visited probably in his capacity as HM Inspector of Schools, and inscriptions of stones.

Letters to Myvanwy Rhys

Letters, 1893-1945, addressed to Myvanwy Rhys from her sister, Olwen, 1911-1945 (mostly 1945), and various correspondents. Some letters are addressed to both sisters, and a few may have been sent solely to Olwen Rhys. Many relate to the proposed biography of John Rhŷs. Included are letters from A. E. Also included are letters, and fragments of letters, which are unsigned and undated.
