Records relating to Caernarvonshire, etc.

(With 172D). Two volumes of rough transcripts, abstracts, extracts, etc. by J. H. Davies, with one transcript by E. A. Lewis, of original material (14c-19c) mainly relating to Caernarvonshire and partly to Anglesey and Merioneth, extracted mainly from public records. Other sources include manuscripts in the British Museum; Bangor episcopal lease books, surveys and rentals in the possession of the Welsh Church Commission (now in the National Library of Wales); and printed matter.

Hanesion Llŷn ac Eifionydd,

A volume lettered 'Hanesion Llyn ac Eifionydd', being a collection compiled by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') of literary, historical and antiquarian material relating mainly to South Caernarvonshire. An album lettered 'Enwogion Sir Gaernarfon' and labelled 'I' from the library of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') containing press cuttings with annotations and some additions by the compiler.

A manuscript of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') containing lists of names of Caernarfonshire worthies; and miscellaneous press cuttings, e.g. 'Y Parch. Walter H. Jones, MA, BD Gan Glanogwen', 'Cipdrem ar ddynion od yr Alltwen. Lewis Lewis (Lewis Glyndyle). Enwogion Llŷn ac Eifionydd,

A manuscript by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') containing an introductory chapter ('Rhagymadrodd Enwogion') on the worthies of Llŷn and Eifionydd (subsequently amended in turn to Eifionydd and to Caernarvonshire), together with additional notes and press cuttings on the subject. One of the labels on the outer upper cover is numbered '13' and another is inscribed 'Eben Fardd .... ac Enwogion amryw'.

A scrap-book containing material largely of Caernarvonshire interest (biographical notes, press cuttings, extracts from almanacs, copies of memorial inscriptions, etc.) compiled by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). There is a rough list of contents at the beginning but this is not exhaustive and the pages are not numbered. Inset are two letters, one incomplete, 1920-1, from Ifan ab Owen Edwards, Llanuwchllyn to 'Myrddin Fardd'.
