Comprises letters, 1957-1997, to John Morris, mainly of political interest. Many of the letters are from John Morris's Aberavon constituents. In some cases there are copies of his replies and/or drafts of his replies, prepared to be typed up by a secretary. The letters cover a wide range of subjects, mainly governmental affairs and the work of various governmental ministries and departments, above all the Welsh Office. Many letters concern the Labour Party, its various committees and its internal affairs. Many of the letters are from constituents who make enquiries and refer problems and difficulties to their Member of Parliament. Some also concern the framing and implementation of various pieces of legislation. There are also many subject files, 1951-1995, divided into British subjects, Welsh affairs, many of these concerning devolution, and constituency matters. The subject files relating to British politics nationally include material on a wide range of subjects including defence, disarmament, education, the EEC, parliamentary elections, the environment, foreign affairs, housing, the Labour Party, leasehold reform, local government, pensions, the steel industry, transport, and specific pieces of parliamentary legislation. The files on Welsh affairs include material on the Welsh Office, the Labour Party Wales, the Crowther/Kilbrandon Commission and devolution, the Development Corporation for Wales, and the Welsh language. Thirdly, there is a group of printed, typescript and manuscript materials and diaries, 1943-1991. A further file, being Lord Morris's earliest drafts of the chapter on Kosovo (chapter 21), for inclusion in his book 'Fifty Years in Politics and the Law', published in 2011, was received in Februay 2013. This file is under Embargo during the lifetime of the donor. Further donations of material were made in Augist 2015 and August 2015. These remain uncatalogued although photographs have been transferred to photo albums and videocasettes, sound cassettes and DVDs have been transferred to the National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales.

Papers, 1886-1968, of the Lloyd George family. The collection is comprised mainly of correspondence, the bulk of which is addressed to David Lloyd George, mostly from contemporary political figures and from members of his family. The political correspondence relates largely to Welsh affairs, including Disestablishment, the Welsh Church Commission, education and the investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1911, as well as to the Irish Question and the First World War. David Lloyd George's family correspondence includes letters, [c. 1886]-1941, between David Lloyd George and his wife Margaret, from David Lloyd George to his uncle Richard Lloyd, 1890-1916, and to David Lloyd George from his brother William George, 1891-1915; other family correspondence includes letters to Margaret Lloyd George, 1893-1939, from various correspondents, and from Margaret Lloyd George mainly to her daughter Olwen Carey-Evans, 1917-1939; correspondence and papers of Megan Lloyd George, daughter of David and Margaret Lloyd George, including letters, 1939-1957, to and from Labour politician Philip Noel-Baker and from other correspondents, 1910-1966, including her parents, together with a tour journal, 1923-1924, and diary, 1947, and correspondence and papers, 1914-[c. 1963], of Gwilym Lloyd George, son of David and Margaret Lloyd George, including a typescript draft, [c. 1960]-1962, of his (unpublished) autobiography; together with speech notes, notebooks and miscellaneous papers, [c. 1904]-1939, of David Lloyd George, and correspondence and papers, 1898-1909, relating to Mair Eluned Lloyd George, daughter of David and Margaret Lloyd George.

The subject matter covers his election and early career as Conservative MP for the Denbigh Boroughs under the Liberal Asquith government, 1907-1914 and later for Stafford, 1918-1938; his service during the First World War with the Shropshire Yeomanry, the Arab Bureau, the War Office Cabinet and the Zionist Commission in Palestine; his attendance at the Paris Peace Conference, 1919; several government appointments mainly in colonial administration, 1920-1938 and in the Cabinet as First Commissioner of Works, 1931; his succession to the title of Harlech and selection as Lord Lieutenant of Merioneth, 1938; responsibility for civil defence in Yorkshire, 1939-1940; his appointment as High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in South Africa; 1941-1944; his receipt of the Order of the Garter, 1948; and a bank directorship in South Africa, 1950. The letters comment (often indiscreetly) on other politicians, including Lloyd George, Stanley Baldwin and Winston Churchill, cabinet business and political issues such as: National Insurance; the Parliament Act, 1911; Lloyd George 's radical social reforms; Disestablishment of the Church in Wales; Home Rule and the rise of Irish nationalism, 1912-1921, 1948; the General Strike, 1926; the Socialist election victory, 1929; the Great Depression, 1931; influence of trade unions, 1935; agricultural policy, 1931-1939; social, economic and governmental aspects of the Second World War, generally in Europe and more specifically in South Africa under Smuts 's premiership; and significant changes in post-war society. The letters from abroad keenly observe the geography, culture and politics of Europe, Egypt, Palestine, the East and West Indies, Africa, Canada and the United States. Other topics comprise the investiture of the Prince of Wales, 1911; an official cabinet visit to the King at Windsor Castle, 1932; the funeral of George V, 1936; Gore 's own lifelong interest in architecture, art and sculpture beginning as early as 1902-1903, with later references to the National Gallery, 1928, and the National Museum of Wales, 1939; the management of Derrycarne Estate until its sale in 1924 and alterations to the Brogyntyn estates through death duties and wartime economy, 1938-1945. The letters are accompanied by a set of autobiographical notes, purposely created for clarification of the contents.
