Henry Salesbury's Dictionary

A volume containing a transcript, 1785, by Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd) of Henry Salesbury's Dictionary (pp. 5-152). Also included is an elegy to Evan Evans, [1788], in the autograph of David Ellis (pp. 1-2).

Lexicon Cambro-Britannicum

A manuscript containing 'Lexicon Cambro-Britannicum' by William Gambold, late of Exeter College, Oxford, later rector of Puncheston in Pembrokeshire. Part i of the manuscript contains an English-Welsh dictionary of '88 sheets, writ in 7 months' and completed 'Sep. 14. 1722'. The material was 'collected out of Dr. Davies's Latin-Welsh Dictionary, the Welsh translation of the holy Bible, several approved Welsh Authors, and common use'. There are three columns to each folio. Part ii contains a Welsh-English dictionary of '36 sheets', begun 'Nov. 27. 1721' and completed 'Feby. 17th 1721/2'. There are three columns to each folio.

A manuscript containing a Welsh-English dictionary by William Gambold containing words from the Bible, the Common Prayer Book, Buchedd yr Apostolion, Annogaeth i gymmuno'n fynych yn y sacrament, etc. Folio references are frequently given, showing where the words may be found. There are three columns to each folio.

A Welsh-English dictionary in the hand of David Jones, Trefriw. The dictionary is based on William Salesbury: A Dictionary in Englyshe and Welshe (London, 1547), and is described on the last page, by Ismael Dafydd, as 'Casgliad or Geirlyfr cynta a adawodd y Dr. Davies a Thomas Jones allan of Llyfrau, hwn a Loffais i Dav. Jones, o waith William Salisbury 1547 wedi ei godi o hen 'Scrifen lygredig. Isml. Dafydd. Un mil Saith gant a phedwar ugain a Naw'.
