Eight scrapbooks compiled by Major Francis Jones (1908-1993) comprising press cuttings from regional and national newspapers, 1966-1969, relating to events leading up to the Investiture of Prince Charles as Prince of Wales at Caernarfon Castle in 1969, and to the Investiture itself.

George Owen of Henllys

The file comprises an address 'Siors Owen', part manuscript and part typescript, delivered by Dr B. G. Charles to Cymdeithas y Bedol, Aberystwyth, [formed in 1944], sometime before George Owen of Henllys: a Welsh Elizabethan was published in 1973, together with three letters, 1943-1949, from Francis Jones relating to the antiquarian.

Pembroke, with ancillary pedigrees of the associated families of Jones of Greenston, Brawdy, Jones of Southfield, Llysyfran, Roberts of Tregidreg, parish of Mathry, Griffith of Mathry, Morgans, the Flemings, of Roose, Francis of St. Elvis, Jenkins of Mathry, Thomas of Rhydyrharding, parish of Mathry, Williams of Newport, and Harries of Binchurn, all of co. Pembroke.

'Pembrokeshire Papers', being notes and abstracts, 1936, by, and in the hand of, Francis Jones, Carmarthen, formerly of Haverfordwest, etc. They include a list of youths admitted to the Free School, Haverfordwest, 1633; extracts, 1799-1826, from the vestry book of the parish of Llandeloy; 'List of Monuments under the pavement of St. Martin's Church, Haverfordwest ...'; extracts taken from manuscripts in the possession of of W. G. Eaton Evans, Haverfordwest; and an account of incidents in the life of Henry Leach (d. 1848), Pembroke, based on transcripts of family letters; etc.

The file includes radio scripts, 1937-1939, which were co-written by Dr B. G. Charles and his colleagues Francis Jones and B. G. Owens, comprising 'Pebidiog Paradwys Penfro', 1937, 'Cwrs clera', 1937, 'Glaniad y Ffrancod yn Abergwaun', 1938, 'Cemais', 1939, 'Morladron Cymru', 1939; together with notes relating to a programme 'A manner of speaking', 1952; notes about farm names for a BBC radio broadcast; a script 'Pynciau'r Tir', 1965, which Dr B. G. Charles took part in and enquiries received by him as a result of this broadcast relating to farm names; a letter, 1972, relating to a farm called 'Ty Bôl' in Edeyrn, Caernarfonshire, which was featured on the programme 'Pynciau'r Tir'; and notes, [1937-1972], for an unidentified programme on place-names.
