A catalogue of books, with suggested prices, submitted to Sir John Williams, c. 1897, by Egerton Grenville Bagot Phillimore. The books are mainly in Welsh or other Celtic languages or relate to Wales and other Celtic countries. There are notes relating to many of the books, mainly describing their condition and whether Sir John Williams already had a copy. Inset is a letter, 25 April 1907, from J. Kyrle Fletcher, Newport, Monmouthshire (books for sale and the writer's own interest in books).

A volume containing transcripts, 1890, by William John Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd') from Llanstephan MS 182, part i, ff. 1-25v, one of a group of manuscripts which had belonged to Angharad Llwyd (see note under 'Tarddiad'). Included are 'Llyma ossedigaethau y Dernas o waith Dyfnwal Moel Mwdd ...' (ff. 6-7v), 'Llyma y modd i ranwyd ac i mesurwyd, ac y rifwyd Cantrefydd a Chwmwdau holl Gymru, yn amser Llewelyn ap Gruffydd ...' (ff. 8-13), and an English version of 'Y pedwar brenin ar hugain cadarnaf' (ff. 51-60). Interleaved between ff. 14 and 49 is an imperfect copy, wanting title page, pp. 1-6, 68-72, of George Owen Harry, The genealogy of ... James ... king of great Brittayne ... A transcript by W. J. Roberts from a manuscript which he found among the papers of David Jones of Trevriw ('Dafydd Sion Dafydd') and which he sold to E. G. B. Phillimore (i.e. NLW MS 255A); and transcripts of 'englynion o wneuthuriad Ellis ab Ellis o blwyf Trillo yn Sir Feirionydd' and of a portion of the Interlude of 'Deifus a Lazarus'.

Three volumes of The Description of Pembrokeshire by George Owen were published between 1892 and 1906 as part of the Cymmrodorion Record Series 1. The letters contained in this folder, to and from J. L. C. Cecil Williams, discuss the preparations for a fourth and fifth volume. The fourth volume was published in 1936 with Egerton Phillimore as editor. Egerton Phillimore died in 1937 before the fifth and final volume could be completed.

A manuscript containing Y Marchog Crwydrad, being a translation into Welsh of W[illiam] Goodyear's English version of Le Voyage du Chevalier Errant by Jean de Cartigny. Egerton Phillimore has inserted the following note: 'This MS. was written by Jeuan ab Jeuan ab Madoc in the parish of Bettws, near Bridgend, Glamorganshire, in about 1575, and differs materially from the other two known MSS. - in fact it is a distinct translation, and interesting as a specimen of Glamorgan dialect. This is far the most perfect MS. of the Welsh translations of this work. The first folio is gone but is preserved in a slightly later transcript ... the missing fol. 74 ... is said to be in Brit. Mus: MS. 100 Harl: D. XVII. 2414'. On the front of the volume is written 'No. 25 / No. 144 Hauod [although this manuscript is not mentioned by Iolo Morganwg as among the Hafod collection] / No. 8'.
