Copies of 'cywyddau' by Guto'r Glyn, Hywel Cilan, Edward ap Raff ('prydydd dall oedd ef, 1587'), Rhys Cain (1598), Sion Brwynog, William Llŷn, Hywel Gethin 'o Gelynog', Rhys Pennardd, Hywel Rheinallt, and Gruffudd Llwyd ab Ieuan; a carol dated 1598; an 'englyn'; music miscellanea ('y pedeir caing ar ddec', 'y pedeir gostec', 'Klymav'); and prose 'areithiau', 'Dewis-bethau Davydh Meilienydh', 'Breudhwyt Gruff. ap Adha ap D'd', and 'Breudhwyt Llewelyn Goch ap Meuric Hen'. The latter portion of the manuscript is in the hand of Thomas Williams, 'physycwr'.

An imperfect manuscript containing fifty 'cywyddau' and five 'awdlau' written during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. The majority of the poems are drafts by, and in the respective hands of, the herald bards Rhys Cain and his son Siôn Cain of Oswestry, the former being represented by twenty-seven poems of which some are dated between 1582 and 1612 and the latter by twenty poems of which some are dated between 1609 and 1634. Other poets represented in the volume are William Llŷn, James Dwnn, 1616 (holograph), Edward ap Raff, Richard Cynwal, Lewys ap Edward, and Siôn Phylip. About three fourths of the poems are hitherto unrecorded. The volume is made up of individual poems written on separate papers which were previously stitched, though probably not for the purpose of covering and binding in book form, and as in the case of other manuscripts deriving from the Cains, e.g., Peniarth MS. 117, each paper bears evidence of having at one time been folded and filed in a bundle, generally with an endorsement, until eventually it became worn and tattered at the creases. The title of one 'cywydd' by Rhys Cain has been added in the hand of Robert Vaughan of Hengwrt.

A square slip of brown paper inscribed 'Hen Garolau a gasglwyd yng Ngwynedd' has been pasted on to p. 547 and this is followed on pp. 551-610 by a series of thirty numbered 'carolau' the majority unattributed and some attributed to Huw Dafydd, Thomas Evans, Syr Lewys ab Huw, Llywelyn ab Hywel ab Ieuan ab Gronw, Llywelyn ab Hwlcyn 'o Fôn', Dicc Hughes, R. Hughes, and Richard Hughes (? whether the last three named were the same person). Pp. 611-33 contain three poems two of which are attributed to Huw ap Wiliam ap Dd. ap Gronw and Siôn Morys.

A volume of 'englynion' entitled 'llyfr wiliam Siôn o fryn saeth', and partly in the hand of David Jones ('Dewi Fardd'). Many of the 'englynion' are unattributed, and the few poets represented in the volume are William Cynwal, Lewis Glyn Cothi, Ellis ap Llew[elyn], Rhys ap Niclas, Sion Philip, Dr. Sion Siengcin, Lewis Menai, Owen Jones ('o dref machynlleth'), Sion Tudur, Thomas Eufan, Ed'd ap Raff, Wm.
